Doctors all around the country prescribe Adderall on a daily basis for young children who have problems sitting still and focusing. Almost one in every five kids in the country is diagnosed with ADD, or Attention Deficit Disorder, and given medication to try and correct the problem. Typically, the drug Adderall is prescribed. It’s easier than ever to have a doctor supply any child with an attention issue a drug that can easily be abused.

Understanding Adderall

Adderall is a medication that is a mixture of four different amphetamines. Together, the drug becomes 100% amphetamine, which is one of the strongest and most powerful stimulants on the market. The focus effect of this medication is strong and completely comparable to that of Adderall, just with fewer side effects. It is without a doubt one of the best medications out there for cognitive enhancement for healthy individuals who are suffering from ADD.

Modafinil does have side effects, but they are mostly very light and not nearly as pronounced as those from Adderall. Two of the common side effects reported by users of Modafinil are headaches and anxiety, but are typically less than those who take Adderall.

There are no withdrawal symptoms to worry about when taking Modafinil, as it is not an amphetamine like its competitor. And since Adderall causes a catabolic effect on the muscle tissue, it actually burns muscle to pull energy out of it. Modafinil does not. Almost every healthy person who suffers from ADD and takes Modafinil has reported that it works just as well as Adderall but with none of the terrible side effects, making this drug an excellent choice for increased cognitive function.
