The first acute care facility that I first visited was Adirondack Medical Center located at 2233 state Route 86 in New York City (Bruneau et al., 2007). The data that they deal with include the number of surgical diagnoses that occur in the acute care facility. The other challenge that they face is that which involves the relation of the charges that is charged in the care facility and the charges at the national level. The information on the number of patients that acquire nosocomial infections is also another type of data that the information management professionals encounters on the job.

The data that are dealt with by the information management professionals include the information on the disease trends and cure information. The other data processed is one involving the immunization processes and procedures for prevention of illness among infants (Bruneau et al., 2007).
The challenges faced in non-acute care facility by information management professionals
One of the challenges that the information management professional informed me was one involving time. With the amount of time that is available, it may become difficult for the professional to gather information on a certain issue. This process leads to the submission of either incomplete information or inaccurate information.
Another challenge that the information management professional brought up was the difficulty of hearing from the individuals who are marginalized like the physically challenged individuals. For instance in the case where information is needed for the purpose of ensuring that the resource in the care facility is shared equally, all the patients should be involved in giving their opinions (Coulter et al.,
Health Information Management (HIM) professional: Will expect that the healthcare providers are honest, accurate in their diagnoses, and the charges are legal, fair, and correspond to services rendered on the given day. All inaccuracies must be corrected as soon as discovered to inspire confidence in the HIM professional, the facility, and all the organization’s employees. All stakeholders depend upon the HIM professional to maintain the accuracy, privacy and security of the patient’s medical charts, and thereby secure the reputation of the facility and welfare of the patients.
Without question the cost of medical care in this country has skyrocketed over the last few decades. Walk into an emergency room with an earache or the need for a few stitches and you’re apt to walk out with a bill that is nothing short of shocking.
Memorial Medical Center was situated “three feet below sea level, which is on one of the low points in the bowl in New Orleans (Fink, Sheri, 2009).” This hospital served as a “shelter whenever hurricanes threatened: employees would bring their families and pets, as well as coolers packed with food (Fink, Sheri, 2009).” Having 2,000 people taking shelter in this hospital on top of 200 patients, and over 600 workers in one place during a category 5 hurricane, ran a huge risk. This was not something that was assessed, because the author stated, “this is something that citizens who live around the hospital normally do during a crisis like this (Fink, Sheri, 2009).” I also do not think that individuals believed that Hurricane Katrina would have been as bad as it was, because this is the storm that is considered to be a “lesson learned (President George W. Bush, 2005)”.
Health Care workers are constantly faced with legal and ethical issues every day during the course of their work. It is important that the health care workers have a clear understanding of these legal and ethical issues that they will face (1). In the case study analysed key legal and ethical issues arise during the initial decision-making of the incident, when the second ambulance crew arrived, throughout the treatment and during the transfer of patient to the hospital. The ethical issues in this case can be described as what the paramedic believes is the right thing to do for the patient and the legal issues control what the law describes that the paramedic should do in this situation (2, 3). It is therefore important that paramedics also
The cost of Medical equipment plays a significant role in the delivery of health care. The clinical engineering at Victoria Hospital is an important branch of the hospital team management that are working to strategies ways to improve quality of service and lower cost repairs of equipments. The team members from Biomedical and maintenance engineering’s roles are to ensure utilization of quality equipments such as endoscope and minimize length of repair time. All these issues are a major influence in the hospital’s project cost. For example, Victory hospital, which is located in Canada, is in the process of evaluating different options to decrease cost of its endoscope repair. This equipment is use in the endoscopy department for gastroenterological and surgical procedures. In 1993, 2,500 cases where approximately performed and extensive maintenance of the equipment where needed before and after each of those cases. Despite the appropriate care of the scope, repair requirement where still needed. The total cost of repair that year was $60,000 and the repair services where done by an original equipment manufacturers in Ontario.

According to the American Health Information Management Association, Health information is the data related to a person’s medical history, including symptoms, diagnoses, procedures, and outcomes. Health information records include patient histories, lab results, x-rays, clinical information, and notes. The data can be analyzed to see how a patient’s health might have changed. I took interest in Health Information Management when it was brought to my attention by a doctor. He told me that is a very interesting field and it is in high demand as they have more jobs than people to fill them. I went home, researched it and now here I am making my entry into the field.
Communication is an essential part of daily life for everyone but for people who have learning difficulties or impairments like those in Lennox Castle it is especially important. This is why it is imperative all workers in health and social care sector ‘support people in having a voice and being heard' (K101, Unit 4 p 183), this is one of the five principles of care implanted in the care sector. Care workers should encourage service users to speak out which will empower them to create their own individuality or identity which in turn will give them a better quality of life; this is a lot different to the way people with learning difficulties w...
Consulting for the Caring Angel Hospital Working in the health care industry takes a lot of courage and patience in order to deal with different individual’s personalities and to be equipped to handle stressful situations according to the issues at hand. Services, programs, and activities that must be accessible to these special offenders include education, religious services, visitation programs, medical and mental health services, access to toilets, showers, food, recreation and many other different matters. These inmates must be treated the same and must be able to participate in all of the events discussed. According to Thomas Weiss, the three most common types of complaints reported include, “Denial of access to disability-related devices and medical services, Denial of access/unequal access to the facility's activities and programs, and Lack of effective communication for inmates who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind, or have low vision (Weiss).” The reasons why these complaints are filed are because of a lack of responsibility, care, and good structured and disciplined employees at any correctional facility that deals with these disabled offenders.
Easily accessible, accurate health information is essential to improve patient safety, and the efficiency and effectiveness of health care delivery. Data standards are necessary for information flow through the national health information infrastructure. When determining the requirements for health data and health information systems for an occupational health center, it is imperative to consult with numerous agencies and resources to ensure that standards are being met, thereby ensuring that patients are receiving safe, efficient, and effective healthcare.

Data and information are integrated into each step of the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. ("Nursing Excellence." Nursing Informatics 101. Web. 19 Nov. 2014.) Following this process, nursing informatics personnel can organize and set each file and record accordingly based on the care process. Since health care providers communicate primarily through the notes they write in a patient’s chart, nurse informaticists seek to continually improve the speed, timeliness and accuracy of patient charting. Working with the accurate information is key to nurses in all fields of the spectrum. It is beneficial to the health care providers that information is precise and up-to-date so the care will be more than sufficient. When health workers have access to more up-to-date, complete patient notes, they can make better decisions about a patient’s care and use the appropriate resources to better help the quality of the patient’s care doctors can
A rising concern with informatics and public health is the barrier between data sharing. A major challenge for public health informatics is facilitating the improved exchange of information between public health and clinical care. Many of the data in public health information systems still come from forms filled out by hand, which are later computer-coded. Some reports are electronic but the initial data still have to be entered manually, this results in serious underreporting of data. Information silos typically do not share priorities, goals or even the same tools. Departments operate as individual units; silos occur due to an organization structure. Silos make it difficult to share information, agencies store same information in multiple places. Furthermore, silos increase health agency cost.
