Narrative Statement
I really think I can make it in the New York Film Academy because I love acting and I have the determination to take on whatever challenge is thrown at me. I loved acting every since I was a little boy. I would watch a movie and try to act like my favorite character in the movie and do exactly what that actor did. My eighth grade year I joined a reading a class. We learned how to read more fluently and enunciate are words better. We would also have to act like one or two characters in that book. I decided to take acting further in high school.
My junior year in high school I decided to join multimedia. In multimedia we do the schools news, we have our own radio station, and we come up with our own videos that we make and

Watching movies was one thing, but I really pay attention to each every person's acting skills. For example, body language, emotions, rehearsed movements, facial expressions, tone of voice, and much more. The best actor to me that has the best acting skills is Ice Cube. I grew up watching Ice Cube, he has a wide range of the type of movies he played in. He has influenced me in a way that anybody can do what they want to do as long as you have the determination to do it. He went from a gang banger and rapper from South Central Los Angeles, to being one of the greatest actors. He made a decision himself to get out of the gang and stop rapping to do something bigger and more productive with his life. He has really set the tone for young people to start their career and be the best actor they can be.
I have a lot of confidence that I can go through this academy and become an actor. I can be any actor that I am willing to put myself as. I’m aiming to not only be an actor, but to grow into one. I want to develop my acting skills to the highest level that I can achieve. I will go the extra mile just to get where i’m trying to go, and I really believe the New York Film Academy can help me achieve my
Samuel L Jackson has then came to appear in many great movies such as Jurassic Park, Pulp Fiction, A Time To Kill, One Eight Seven, Shaft, Coach Carter, Star Wars and many others. He has also been nominated for many of these and has received many awards for a lot of these films. He is still acting and does not seem to be thinking of retirement any time soon. He truly is a great example of a great actor who rose to fame in the time of blaxploitation and also an inspiration to all those with addiction problems as someone who was able to overcome his problem and make something of himself.
He was now very influential to fans. They wanted to be just like him. He starred in more movies and could be who he really was. He did a lot of interviews that showed his beliefs.
Not to mention he never let go of his faith in God and believed in his dream which led to his great success today. However he is a man who gives to people and helps with different charities. He is a man of inspiration who used one passion, which led him to the road of success. His writing, producing and directing over the years has inspired so many people. However he has inspired millions of people to not only dream, but make their dream a reality. He did not let his struggles keep him down. He has inspired me to do better through his testimony.I’am a huge fan of his work, today I dream bigger because of him being an inspiration to my life.A man who had a dream and used his sense of humor to bring joy to so many people in this world who are struggling. His struggles did not break him but made him. Furthermore he continues to inspire people through his movies, plays, and his Faith in
Through all his family and education issues, he stood up to become a well-known hip-hop artist according to his history background. He released a couple albums and then was offered to be in some movies. He made some songs and music videos with them that made it big on the Billboard charts. For example, in these movies and albums called, “Power respect Juice” (1992), “Bullet”(1996), “Gang Related” (1997), “all eyez on me”(1996),”Greatest Hits”(1998), and “Until the end of time”(2001), according to all these released, he won prizes from music and artist industry, people can recognize him. Tupac has become rich and famous and he is not showing off his own style.
His life, his actions, only show that no matter what you’re facing, be it anything from racial prejudice to something as simple as a mean girl, you can face it and change it for the better. I feel as if he really didn’t find his true calling until he was in his twenties, and that makes me realize that I still have time to find what I’m meant for. After learning so much about him, I am surprised I this is the first time I am hearing his story.
Narrative research is a qualitative methodological approach in research (Bedford & Landry, 2010. Since the early 1980s, narrative inquiry has been emerging in regards to individual life stories. Storytelling is closely related to psychoanalytic tradition. Narrative research, consist of a multiple of approaches, that are apart of social constructionism, which is guided by the philosophical assumptions of an interpretive constructivist paradigm (Patsiopoulos & Buchanan, 2011). Through this qualitative method researchers are able to explore and obtain an understanding about individuals through specific data gathered through interviews.
The play and the film The Crucible are an effective representation of each other in many ways. Throughout the film, many aspects of the play remain the same; however, the film contains more additions to give watchers a clearer picture of what is going on. The film, The Crucible, did a great job at representing the play by keeping the same wording and same events; with the additional scenes, the film was much better. I feel as though the film is a great representation of the play. Just as explained in the play and film, Betty and Ruth were “sick” but in different ways.
During my demonstration speech, I was affected by my speech anxiety. Some of the viewable symptoms were the shaking of my hands and also the stuttering of speech. I was able to control myself and relax after I started getting into my information. I did use some of the suggested relaxation techniques to relieve my anxiety. Before I got up to speak I thought confident of myself to help give me courage and confidence.
Al pacino said, "The actor becomes an emotional athlete. The process is painful - my personal life suffers". In other words, "Acting is simply more than walking out on the stage" as Dr. Stevenson would put it. It is more than just reading the lines. To be a true actor, I believe it takes inner capabilities such as learning life. In all the books I have read, all the chapters we have reviewed in class, and in all honesty…Al Pacino is an actor I cannot forget.
AV: I have always wanted to be an actress since I was a little girl. For me, acting is like getting
The hefty red book with the petite, black letters printed sat on the timber, yellow table. It was another dull morning and my parents had no clue I was taking my ACT practice test from The Princeton Review book the third time striving to hit the 30 mark for once. I look at the big, grimy book with worn out eyes; there were the noticeable words and the same exact structure of the exam ridiculing me saying I was going to hit the high 20s for my composite score again. I remember finishing the exam feeling all drained out. I finish grading my exam, using up all the red ink I had left. I felt a plethora of feelings: optimistic, tense, and accomplishment. My dull eyes stared at the top right corner of my composite score. After reading the two-digit numbers, three and two, I knew nothing else mattered.
Even though they are both under the same industry, they have a lot of differences in their times of rehearsal, their relationship with an audience, and their emotional challenges, etc. After my research, I noticed that each type of actor has their own challenges to overcome and not one is easier than the other. Even though stage actors performed in chronological order, they still need to be on top of their lines at all times. There will never be anyone reading their lines to them while they are performing. If they miss a line, the show must go on. As for film actors, if they forget a line during filming, someone can easily give them their line onset and the director will just shoot another take. Even though they don’t have to be totally familiar with their lines, they have to be mentally and emotionally ready to shoot any scene from the movie. Which type of actor would you rather be? If it was up to me, I’m happy to be either
I've always been very shy growing up; while other children went outside and played I stayed at home and read books. In school I had very few friends that I stuck around with all the time, interacting with strangers was hard and I barely talked in public because of how uncomfortable it made me feel, which is why it was completely incomprehensible when my English teacher, Ms. Cemanes, asked me to join the grade school theater club. Eventually I was coerced enough by my teacher, who was also the club moderator, to join. I couldn't stand how anxious it made me feel to be put in such a situation where literally everyone else was an extrovert made for the stage while I wanted to be anywhere but near the spotlight. We were taught a lot of things, voice modulation, a bit of choreography, pronunciation, and acting.
What does it take to be a writer? Being a writer is so much more than just storytelling, especially when it comes to writing for theatre. One has to have a fantastic imagination to write something that will captivate the audience and keep their attention during the whole story. A writer for theatre should also have knowledge of acting because to effectively communicate their story, they should know everything there is to know about their characters. As it was discussed in class, schools such as UCR requires almost everyone in the TFDP department to take some type of acting classes for the purpose of being experienced in every aspect of theatre.
I am interested in anything that is interesting. Eclecticity seeps into my brain much more easily than the thunderingly similar data of a single concentrated topic area. Though I tend to gravitate towards computer, science, and math information, I will just as likely find an article on a political, religious, or historical topic just as interesting as an article on how astronauts keep their Coke fizzy in space or a book on how public key encryption works.
