I often tell people that interviewing the young people in the film/TV industry is the task in which I most revel. While I had only heard of the popular Netflix show Anne With An E, when I was given the opportunity to ask Kyla Matthews (Ruby Gillis) a few questions about her career, I jumped at the chance. Interestingly enough, Hallmark audiences are familiar with her work as well. It is with immense enthusiasm that I share her insightful responses with my readers today! Photo Credit: Ian Redd RH: Why did you decide to become an actress? When did you first start acting professionally? KM: I never actually made the decision to become “an actress” originally. I just started acting, but I’ve had such great experiences doing it, and now that season two of Anne has finished filming, I know that I …show more content…
Please tell us what was special about your role and what you learned about being on set. I played the daughter of parents who were in the midst of a custody battle. It's always tough when kids are forced to be in the centre of the conflict between adults and a lot of kids can relate to being stuck in this situation. Were you (or your parents) aware of this movie series before you were cast in it? Are you aware of the fans of the show known as the Postables? What did you enjoy the most about being a part of this film? No, I had no idea about Postables, but now I will go and look them up! The best part about being a part of this film was galavanting on that farm amongst the cows. I also really enjoyed working with new actors. My “aunt” on the show was really cool; we’d go off on little adventures together when we weren’t really supposed to. Photo Credit: Ken
Theater is acting, and each actor that was involved in this production was fantastic. Page Ogle who played Dolly did a very good job being a sweet talking, yet manipulative woman in the 1890s. I would have critiqued her on just one thing, slow down!

I had never been an understudy prior to Urinetown, so I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect. I had the chance to stand in for Josephine Strong on multiple occasions, but only rehearsed as Pennywise once. Learning
Liz Meyrovich, 19, moved 3,000 miles away from the Portland, Oregon home she grew up in to attend Emerson College, one of Boston’s many prestigious performing arts schools. Unlike many other aspiring actors and actresses who move to Los Angeles straight out of high school and work in minimum wage service industry jobs while going on numerous auditions, Meyrovich decided that she would get a degree. She was a musical theatre major, hoping that a degree from Emerson would fuel her career as an actress. But one year and $32,000 later, she came to the realization that it wasn’t going to happen.

After a few minutes of discussion, she began to hand out scripts. I read the top of mine and realized I had been allotted the main roll as a cowboy named Bradley. My costume was a flannel shirt, old blue jeans, a cowboy hat, and a pair of boots. I was suppose to have a thick southern accent and a long, drawn out walk.
The career that I chose was Performing Arts, more specifically, Musical Theatre. I would perform as a singer, dancer as well as an actress, gaining the title of a performer. My career in a small view is performing different plays and musicals for people and making everyone happy. I chose this career, because I love performing and I’ve always done some form of it through elementary school until now. I had always enjoyed singing and playing music, but when I performed in front of the student body in Play Production II, everything changed. I had learned that I loved acting and singing the same amount. I decided, if I could do one thing, I would perform in some sort of musical. It is important to understand
The best movie I have ever seen is, “Goodwill Hunting.” I have heard people talk about it up until about a year ago, but I still never gave it a shot. Until one night I’m going through my nightly routine of scrolling through Netflix titles trying to find a show or movie that will put me to sleep. Of course I could pick an obvious show like “The Office” or “Family Guy”, but I wanted to find something new. So instead I just search my favorite actor, Matt Damon. Came across a movie called, “Rounders”, and it co-starred Edward Norton. This was an obvious choice so I watched it without checking out any other movies with Matt Damon. I was very glad I chose to watch this movie because the cast did amazing and I love movies about gambling.
Now in elementary school though I had my one and only lead as Swingle Cringle, but that was all the way back in the fifth grade. Which means I have gotten a little rusty over time and also means that I have one of the worst show resumes someone has ever seen. But that didn’t get me down. I still auditioned like everyone else but much to not only my surprise but also my moms surprise I was casted as Crony 1 for Beauty and The Beast but I was also casted as the only male lead dancer. This means that I got one whole line; “Crazy ol’ Maurice!” but it also means that I was good enough to be with the top dancers in the show. This really made me see that I am special and that I have some sort of talent. Yet it was something that I learned about within theater that truly helped me with my
Though not under this production company, I actually produced my first feature. It was released theatrically last July. It's now available on VOD or iTunes or any other streaming service. It's called Battle Scars, and it's definitely a lot darker than Sweet Home Carolina. I'm very proud of it, and you know, making a movie is not easy. It's a lot of work. You have to find the financing and the script and a director and the actors. When I was a kid, as an actor, I thought I knew how hard it was to make a movie. But as actors, they kind of shield us from that stuff. When you're on the production side, you genuinely see everything, so it was a really cool journey for me. Very
unemployment; competition for roles is often intense. While formal training is helpful, experience and talent are more important for success in this field. Because of erratic employment, earnings for actresses are relatively low.
