Understanding of one’s self and being self knowledge is a critical step in not just achieving cultural competence but in that person life as a whole. Understand and being self knowledge will determine how that person will interact with others including strangers, and love ones. That will help the person understand what is important in life. Specially in the healthcare profession being cultural competence is extremely important, because nurses see patients from different part of the world with of course different culture that we have to understand in order to provide respectable, quality timely care to. That is no longer the case; we are required to be culturally competent.

Although I have not completed the self assessment exercise help me understand and have a better reflection on the subject. To care without bias nor prejudices is how I approach every situation regardless if it is in the work place or not, because I would not like anyone to judged me without understanding me as an individual and my custom because all of us are a part of or linked to a cultural unique lifestyle. We are different in a lot of unique ways, who want to be accepted and be treated with kindness, respect regardless of my cultural background. Acceptance is a lifelong journey because we will meet people on a daily basis from different part of the world therefore self reflection, examination and willingness of one self is requires to adapt to everyone.
Being more open and understanding is how my interaction will change since one can never be too understanding. I always made it my business to learn something new from everyone I come into contact, because I want to learn about them as a person and culture background which have helped me interacting better with clients, better rapport and
