Every 15 seconds a child dies from a water related illness. There are countries all around the world that do not have access to food, clean water, and shelter. I believe that everywhere in the world should be provided with the supplies they need. There should be a law made in every country to ensure that people get the support they need to live with relative comfort. They need to be able to have enough food to at least have three meals a day. In some places around the world, people are lucky to get one meal a day. They also need to supply those people with fresh water if needed. Some of the water that people drink will cause diseases because it is contaminated with bacteria. Nine million people die a year due to lack of access to clean water. Too many people have either a nonfunctional shelter or no shelter at all. Whatever it takes, the access of food, clean water, and shelter should be supplied to anyone who needs it. There is a problem, however, that occurs. Some countries are poorer than others, so there are more people with these needs in those countries. This causes the help from other countries, and for charities to be formed to help those in need.
The churches in the world play a huge role in the determination to access of food, clean water, and shelter. No matter what religious affiliation, people will donate money to churches to help this growing problem that has arisen. This is important because churches are a good way to give those in need the supplies they need. The churches give the money raised by the offerings that people donate. This is effective because there are so many churches around the world. If most people donate a little bit of money, a substantial amount of people will be helped. The Christ House is a p...

This December 2013 Kawartha Food Share has sponsored local volunteers for the program “Keeping Christmas Local” so that families who can’t afford a Christmas dinner can have one as well. In essence, every dollar, this campaign can purchase $6 worth of food.

In response to the recent failure of the international community to prevent the famine crisis in the Horn of Africa since July 2011, Suzanne Dvorak the chief executive of Save the Children wrote that, “We need to provide help now. But we cannot forget that these children are wasting away in a disaster that we could - and should - have prevented” she added, “The UN estimates that every $1 spent in prevention saves $7 in emergency spending.” (Dvorak, 2011).
anyone who is able to aid the poor ought to donate in order to help
I visited the House of Compassion which is facility in Marshalltown, IA. House of Compassion is a non-profit organization that opened twenty years ago. They are a place of hospitality for those that our hungry, homeless, or in need of medical assistance. The services they have include a supply closet, soup kitchen, emergency shelter, and a Medical Assistance Program. The supply closet enables them to supply personal hygiene products for families in need, diapers is a common need that is often forgotten by the public. The soup kitchen provides food for those that our hungry, and recently the House of Compassion as started a Garden of Compassion which they use to grow food to continue to feed and inform those that our in need. The Emergency Shelter is available for those that have no where to go. They have many beds for people to sleep in, and they are encouraged and supported while they are staying there. This is a common place for people to come in transition, in refuge, and most that come of a sense of hopelessness. Reversing this hopelessness is what the House of Compassion is hoping to do. They want to provide basic needs and help people back on their feet and experience again the hope that we have in Christ.
Water has become a very controversial issue in the United States and around the world. As populations increase and resources decrease, the way we use our resources and keep populations safe become more and more important. Throughout the world there are nearly 1.1 billion people who do not have access the clean drinking water. 5 Most of these 1.1 billion people are located in poor areas and do not have the financial means to build the infrastructures needed to provide water to the citizens of their country. 5 Drinking water is an essential part of our everyday life. People must have water to survive, but it must be clean and safe to consume.
This is because only a small part of the population, particularly in developing countries, have access to water of acceptable quality. It is estimated that in some countries only 20% of the rural population has water of satisfactory quality. Based on these statistics, it is clear the urgent need for awareness about caring for water use. Almost without realizing it, we are seriously jeopardizing this essential resource, not for us but for our children's children and their generations, aware that in other parts o...
The causes of these problems…… and hopefully some suggestions for you to follow as you consider donating money.
Giving to others through humanitarian projects is not only inclusive of providing monetary solutions for food. Philosophies and intention to reach specific goals are also associated with the needs of others. The Hunger Project is designed with the central goal of eradicating poverty. However, it is found that this is not done only by feeding the poor, but instead through empowerment initiatives that allow others to change their lives. When looking at the approach used to The Hunger Project, it can be seen that the ability to provide empowerment to others will assist in changing lives through donations. The impact which is made by making a donation creates an initiative not only through the power of changing lives of those in need. It also alters the socio political landscape and the global society at large. This impact is one which can redefine the overall functions in the globe, specifically by eradicating poverty.
People don’t appreciated the many advantages that comes with having clean potable water to use, taking it for granted. A lot of clean useful water is wasted by humans all the time that people don’t care about saving water because they have easy access to it. Clean and safe drinkable water resources are getting scarce as the population grows. The world is facing many problems, but the most important needed to survive, is water. Water is getting low in many countries, therefore habitants are suffering the misfortune of not having the reliable source of clean water. Today many countries are having water shortages; meaning rivers, lakes, streams and groundwater are not enough to rely on for supplying water demands. For example, California is facing a drastic water shortage, the natural water resources are not enough to fulfill their water demands. Water shortage affects the agricultural sector, so as a consequence the price for production
In the United States today, hunger affects over 850 million people, and that number keeps increasing. Hunger can cause health defects and can slow or shut your body down. It can result in malnutrition and weakened immune systems. It is mainly caused by food distribution among countries. World hunger is a worldwide problem and it difficult to end it. People who don’t have enough food should be helped because they could die from malnutrition.
As of this year, nearly 1.1 billion people live without clean drinking water and 2.6 billion live without adequate water sanitation. The McDonald's down the street, however, will sell you a 1/3 pounder burger for only 150 gallons. Changes in lifestyle can easily reduce this number and help not only save water, but money as well. Currently, with our diminishing water supply, one of the main goals of humanitarian organizations is ensuring that everyone has the right and equality to water. With global access to water, it reduces the responsibility for political tension between countries fighting to literally stay alive.
Some people that live in poverty do not have anywhere to call home, others “die quietly in some of the poorest villages on earth, far removed from the scrutiny and the conscience of the world” (Shah 1). “The modern urban household is an extremely expensive thing” (Galbraith 508); this is why we, the people, should provide safe and affordable shelter for families in need of an improved shelter or a shelter at all. A variety of organizations exist to construct homes for low-income individuals. These organizations include both faith-based enterprises and secular groups. In either case, these organizations tend to utilize donated supplies, cash support and volunteer labor to build durable, safe homes for economically disadvantaged individuals and families. One of the most popular organization is an ecumenical Christian ministry, Habitat for Humanity. Habitat for Humanity began constructing homes for poor families in 1976. By the end of 2009, the organization constructed over 350,000 homes in 3,000 communities around the world. During the period from its founding through the end of 2009, Habitat for Humanity provided safe, comfortable homes for over 1.75 million people. As you can see, this organization has improved the lives of many and continues to do so. Providing homes for the people in need of a safe shelter will improve the success of society and lead us out of
Many people around the world need water. Around 780 million people are unable to get clean water (One Billion Affected). People who do have access to clean water in their homes, have to pay a fee. The people who struggle to live obviously do not have enough money to buy water. People who are unable to have clean water have a good chance of dying either from disease or from dehydration. At least 3.4 million people die a year from water problems such as sanitation (One Billion Affected).
