Most college students want to get good grades and to become successful in their studies. So, the TCC handbook suggests that students should use appropriate ways to achieve their goals. However, many students are tempted by an inappropriate way, which is cheating. We call it academic misconduct. The TCC handbook shows us several characteristics of academic misconduct. Among them, three types of academic misconduct are prohibited, especially in writing assignments or essays: plagiarism, submission, and collusion.
The first way of cheating is plagiarism, which uses someone’s words or ideas as your own, intentionally or accidentally. Many people use plagiarism because they lack ideas and time. Most college English classes have many essay assignments to develop students’ writing skills, and topics are almost the same. College level writing is very difficult, and the students have to write long essays, like more than 500 words. Because of the same topics and long writing assignments, students use many resources for references. However, if they use an idea or words from the resources for their essay and pretend to make the sentence by themselves, it could be plagiarism. …show more content…

If you do submission, it can seriously affect your academic career. According to the TCC policy, students who cheat on their essay or test will be suspended or dismissed from TCC. This policy is not only for TCC, but any college. If you receive any suspension, dismissal, or another academic penalty, you will not finish your academic course with a good grade and will not get a good job.
