Lincoln's treatment of the natives can be described as horrendous at best. Where do we even start on this topic. Why not start off with the fact that Lincoln is just straight up a murderer. 31 natives were hung under Lincoln's command, in just one incident. The Sioux rebels were a group of native rebels that were captured under lincoln's command and 31 of them were hung, while Lincoln did not support the killing of all of them even 31 is far too many. On top of that Lincoln (like most other presidents) took native lands as if it didn't even belong to them. He then gave said lands away for essentially nothing to essentially anyone who wanted it. But what good would It be to take land away from those you oppose and give them to your own people if you could not also control them with 100% certainty. So Lincoln put men in charge of the western lands he took, and all of them were supporters of his. The country under lincoln just does not sound like much of a democracy anymore. For now the new lands didn't even get to vote for their leaders they just had them appointed. We can not forget though that at the beginning of lincoln's presidency he promised to reform the office of Indian affairs, i think you already can tell where this is going. Yup, he never reformed it or even started or tried to reform it. So Lincoln as thus far mistreated the south, failed to control his army, imprisoned those who oppose him, stole native lands, had natives killed, and lied to people. Once again this is not all this now not so great president had done
