Abigail Williams had the most power to her name because everyone thought of her as a goody-good and angelic. People thought so highly of her, therefore, she had the most power.
Proctor is the one whose name was destroyed because people in the town thought he was a good man until he had to confess to adultury and eventually witchcraft. Abigail’s reputation is important to her because she doesn’t want people to be labeling her as “dirty” and she actually cares what others think of her. To protect her name, Abigail makes up the witch trials. Also, whenever someone starts leaning the wrong way she just makes up a commotion to distract them.
