The Big Trip It was a hot summer morning when my family and I started to get ready for our big trip that our dad just sprung on us. All ten of us were super excited Dustin, Alexis, Ely, Madison, Allison, Brent, Zachary, Summer, Landon and myself were running around the house trying to find all our stuff “Where is my bag?!?” Alexis screamed franticly “You should’ve had lost it, finders keepers,” Madison teases It was a very frantic morning, everyone could not keep still for two seconds. My mother Natalie was getting really overwhelmed, she hated when my dad did not plan big things like this huge trip. “Allison, Brent, Madison, Ely, Zach give your packed bags to the older girls so they can check them!” she exclaimed “Your dad is going to …show more content…
Everyone's bags were packed and checked, we soon heard the big horn of the R.V. “Finally!” we all screamed Everything went into the R.V. as orderly as possible, once everyone got situated, my dad said that it was time to tell us where we were headed, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and Oregon. All of us were so excited we could not even sit still for three seconds. This would be our first trip super far out of our state, we have not ever went that far around the states until now. I was the most excited to go to New Mexico, because there cultures were so amazing and different I couldn't wait. After a couple hours of driving, everyone was asleep but my dad, my mom, and I. I sat in the very back of the R.V. staring into the dark night skies, I slowly drifted off to sleep. When i woke up my dad said “Were already three states in,” he exclaimed “Hurry up and eat, we have to get moving” he said repeatedly I looked out of the window to see where we were parked for the night and i saw old broken down homes, old cars, and not a lot of people or …show more content…
All us kids were getting annoyed, we just wanted to keep driving. After what felt like 50 hours, we finally were driving again. Six states have passed we were finally in New Mexico, I was so excited. My dad let me get out every time we stopped, we were in Santa Rosa. “Look for fun family places to go,” he told me I pulled my phone out and found a place called Blue Hole, it was a blue lake where we could go scuba diving and swim. Everyone was stoked to go swimming because it was so hot and us kids were super bored. My dad drove an hour or so to get to this lake, when we got there everyone was super nice and greeting to us. Hours later after left. We were finally ready to drive home. Sitting there, I began to notice that you couldn't base your assumptions one the way people looked, how they dress, or where they lived because everyone has their own cultures whether they are the same as yours or not, you can not judge a person from their appearance, environment, cultures, or beliefs. Once we talked to many people I noticed that many were super nice and had a very good attitude towards helping my family or just having a conversation with us. Also, no one state that we drove through and visited had the same culture; i thought that was really amazing just too see that not everyone believed in the same thing and followed one person to be American is having to
Out of the 12 months of the year, students basically only have about two months to have fun and not worry about school. As a teenager, you do things without predicting the outcome. We tend to not always listen to our parents and sometimes end up in terrible situations.
After we got tired of the pool me and my family started to head to the beach. So as we walked we noticed an amazing shell so we went and picked it up and there was a snail inside of it. It jumped out of its shell at my dad and scared us to death. After that we set it back free in the ocean, the we went and played around in the amazing water. My mom and my grand ma went to go and get lunch from the beach side café. They had the best food on the beach, we all ate our lunch and were stuffed
Months later, I woke up and walked down stairs to make my oats. I walked downstairs and was looking for my Father. I looked everywhere in the house before I noticed he was no-where to be found. Then I walked into the living room and saw my Mother. She was hysterical. Tears were running down her cheek like the Mississippi flowed into the Gulf of Mexico.
I woke up my dad and told him that it was already light outside. He jumped out of bed and said we had to go. I went outside and started up the truck while my dad was getting dressed. When I opened the door to the trailer I noticed clear blue skies and a light frost that covered the ground. I jumped in the driver's seat of the 1990 white GMC Sierra, pushed in the clutch, and turned the key. The truck hesitated for about ten seconds and then started. I turned on the defroster and the windshield wipers so we wouldn?t have to scrape the frost.
We loaded the van, and then we set off to go home. The trip home was pretty quiet. We stop a few times and my Mom always says “We’re almost there, guys.” I’m so glad I did. Well, after many, many grueling hours, we finally arrived home!
We started our travels down in Columbus Ohio. The week leading up to the big move we spent at Deer Creek State park, for a family reunion, where my dad and step mom, had the chance to see everyone again, before the journey began. Over all we had taken nine days to get to our destination. First stop, Saint Louis, Missouri, we stopped to see the Gateway Arch. It was a lot bigger than I thought it would be, so of course I was pretty amazed. The first few days were our longest driving days, but sense we broke up the days, our longest day was eight hours. The second day was the worst, Oklahoma is so boring to drive through, and nothing but flat crop farms, and wind turbines everywhere you look. We drove till we got about seventy five miles from the boarder of New Mexico, And Oklahoma. We got up early and began a shorter dive to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where we went to Petroglyph National Monument, yeah it was interesting, but after you see a few hundred, they all start to look the same. The next morning we took a beautiful hike and took many pictures to capture the moment. Other than getting there, my favorite part of the trip, was Arizona, where we stayed four days in Flagstaff, one day in Holbrook, and one day in Phoenix. I wouldn’t mind if I lived in Arizona, it’s a very beautiful state. My family and I stopped by the Petrified Forest National Park, and I
I woke up Tuesday morning excited for the day I was going to spend with my mom. I was sitting at the kitchen table drinking fresh coffee listening to my mom and aunt tease and joke around about how paranoid my mom was about doing well in her classes, my aunt was telling her that maybe now that I was there, she would relax a little bit and have some fun. Our plan was to go to one of mom's classes with her, and then on a tour of UNC and then we were going to go to dinner and a movie.
It was sunny and 85 degrees. It was the life. I soon saw my grandparents and ran to them. We drove back to the resort, and went to our room. It was the biggest room I've ever stayed in. My Mom, Dad, Sister, and I stayed in a room, My cousins and Aunt and Uncle stayed in a room, and my grandparents stayed in a room.
I started my way up the stairs and I heard yelling. It sounded like Mr. and Mrs. Van Daan.
Vacations aren't always perfect there is always something that goes wrong. At least in my experiences. A perfect vacation to me is when we are all together as a family, which honestly doesn't happen that much. Having a 20 year old brother an 18 year old in post secondary school can make things complicated. Or having a vacation with no,ILLNESS, which can be very, very hard to do!! And I know I’m not the only one who has experienced this on a vacation!
Everything seemed to be going smoothly that morning. Dad loaded the luggage and packed the cooler. He even packed the extra pillows. My family was very happy as we prepared for our trip. I was twelve years old and my brother, Jobie, was ten. My dad had told us for years about his first trip to Disney Land in California when he was a young Marine.
I did not want to leave. I had been here for ten days and I had established relationships and friendships with people from everywhere and all sorts of backgrounds. We all sat in the car preparing to leave. Every single one of us, my parents, brother and me, sitting in silence. Wanting to cry, waiting for someone to say the first word. Each of us had learned something that trip. For me, this experience had taught me what gratefulness was, the impact a good attitude has, what a servant looks like, and really how the relationships we make with our life is the most important aspect about life.
My father's eyes opened, and he called out for my sister Kelly and I to come to him. In a very serious and sad voice, he told us that he was very sick, and he was going to the Fort Wayne hospital. My mother told Kelly and I to help her pack some things for him, because he was going to be leaving soon. We helped her pack, keeping quiet because we did not want to interrupt the silence that had taken over the room.
We went to the airport and found out that we had a jumbo jet to take
I was able to spend a lot of time with my family, our friends, and play all sorts of games. This experience made me start to like traveling. Every time I would get the chance to travel, I will take that chance. We were able to go to a theme park, eat many delicious foods, and play many video
