I met her two years ago and we did not have much to say at that time. Little did I know that she would later steal my heart and become an intimate part of my life. As the saying goes "there is someone for anyone at any time in this life" and I was about to find out that this saying was so true. I have had a wall built around me and my defense was as a stronghold to protect myself from all the relationships that have come and gone over the years. I thought that I was meant to be alone in this old life and happiness was forever gone from me. This wonderful woman I am speaking of is Mary Doe, and the joy she has given me has revived my hope and faith that I may have finally found love and peace within. She has made me feel like I am a child and I am holding on to her with loving arms and a smile that seems to never end. It has been such a long time since I have felt this way and I am so happy at last. I have learned so much from my past and will never forget the lessons I have been through. Being a kid at heart, but still with age creeping up on me, I have been told by Mary Doe that as long as we are together we will grow old side by side and enjoy life as long as we live. I have asked myself many times, "why did I not settle down as a younger man" and now I have the answer. It was time and destiny that we should meet and find love with one another. Am I scared, just a little, but it is not of loseing her I may add. She is laying in bed now asleep as I write this and I barely contain myself to see her beautiful face when she comes walking into my office at home. Everytime I see her it is as if it is the first time we met, and oh how I find this so appealing. Many many years have past before we met but it was well worth the wait I ass... ... middle of paper ... ...alk to if that was her wish to do so. "May I give you a ride anywhere" I asked? "I have no where to go that anyone will listen or understand me" she replied. "Would you like to mount my pony and let me take you to a private place on my property that is peaceful and quite so you may think"? Mary Doe said "yes, that would be so nice and I would appreciate it so much". "Nothing or anyone will bother you there and take all the time you need. I will even bring you supplies so you may have some comfort, but it is not like being at home, but you will be comfortable". "Thank you" she said and we started off in the direction of this oasis, home away from home, for me anyhow. It took about an hour to get where we were going and as we rode along at a slow pace she was behind me holding on tight as if I was going to leave here and break my promise to her to get her there.
Imagine a time where every detail about your life (credit score, personality ranking, “hotness” ranking, etc.) was available to anybody around you through something similar to the present-day iPhone. Now imagine this world being reality. In Gary Shteyngart's Super Sad True Love Story, this idea is reality. Everybody in the world has an äppäräti, and everybody knows everything about one another. But is knowing everything about your friends and neighbors really a good thing, especially when the world around you is crumbling because of this knowledge? Perhaps it isn’t. As Bertrand Russell, a British philosopher, once said, “In all affairs, love, religion, politics, or business, it’s a healthy idea, now and then, to hang a question mark on things you have long taken for granted.” The relationship between Lenny Abramov and Eunice Park, the main characters of Super Sad True Love Story, could have used a question mark on how culture, media, business, and technology impacted their personal relationships throughout the book.
Next the story moves on to her narration. She arrives at Bly and is pleasant...
"Poor little Faith!" thought he, for his heart smote him. "What a wretch am I, to leave her on such an errand! She talks of dreams, too. Methought, as she spoke, there was trouble in her face, as if a dream had warned her what work is to be done tonight. But, no, no! 'twould kill her to think it. Well; she's a blessed angel on earth; and after this one night, I'll cling to h...
When asked about his struggles to a successful life, Groucho Marx, an American comedian had once said “While money can't buy happiness, it certainly lets you choose your own form of misery.” Individuals with a strong attachment to either a dream or a passion, develop a drive which motivates them to achieve their goals; regardless of the obstacles that they may have to overcome. Infatuation with the means of accomplishing such dreams may however, lead to tragic endings. The concept of infatuation leading to tragic endings is explored within the essay Tragedy and the Common Man by Arthur Miller, the novel Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller, and the Australian-American film The Great Gatsby directed by Baz Lurhmann. Tragedy and the common man is an essay based on the fundamental components of a tragedy experienced by the “common man”. Death of a Salesman portrays a man by the Willy Loman who is out to achieve the American dream through the hopeless world he has created for himself. He is a man disillusioned by his lies which leave him in confusion with the events of the past and present. In contrast, The Great Gatsby is about a character by the name Jay Gatsby, who feels pride due to his ability of achieving the American dream. His dream however, is left somewhat incomplete and similar to Willy Loman, he cannot differ between the past and the present, thus is undeniably optimistic about repeating events from the past. Through the concept of infatuation presented in these three works, it can be seen how tragedy develops through the rise of a tragic flaw, the nature of arrogance, and a poignant downfall.
Henry Ford was born July 30, 1863, on a farm in Greenfield Township, Michigan. His father William Ford was born in Country Cork Ireland and his mother Mary Ford was born in Michigan. Henry Ford spent his childhood on his family's farm, located outside of Detroit, MI. When Henry was twelve, his mother died during childbirth. Henrys father gave him a pocket watch in his early teens. At 15, Henry dismantled and reassembled watches and clocks of friends and neighbors dozens of times, and gained the reputation of a watch repairman. Henry repaired my watch plenty of times. I had the very first Rolex Oyster watch, in other words, the world's first water-resistant timepiece. This was no easy watch to work on and just watching how much he loved to take things apart and put it back together just made me think he’s going to invent something big one day. I came from a rather wealthy family and this is how I met Henry. Him being only fourteen and I was just barely thirteen I was always being impressed on how good he was at fixing things mechanically. I had a huge crush on Henry and when I would break ...
A New Literacy Age in American Society Super Sad True Love Story by Gary Shteyngart depicts a futuristic American society dominated by media. Technology is their most precious process, everything revolves around their äppärät. Everyone is ranked based on their attractiveness and wealth. Most people want to stay young and live longer. Any written artifacts are almost non-existent, and literacy is not the same as before.
In Zora Hurston’s novel Their Eyes Were Watching God, the centralized character, Janie Mae Crawford, embarks on a long quest to find the meaning of true love. Like many people, she begins her journey not knowing what love is. Janie encounters many obstacles in her quest for love. But what is true love and how does one know when they have found it? Thesis: Janie’s blind quest for love. It seems that Janie’s destiny is decided for her despite her idealistic and naïve view of love and marriage. Even though it appears that “her dream was dead”, she accepts her fate and “became a woman”, Hurston shows us that though suppressed at times Janie never gives up her dream (25). The symbolic use of the pear tree not only sets the bar high for Janie’s expectation of marriage and love as a partnership like the “bee [sinking] into the sanctum of a bloom” leading to the “ecstatic shiver of the tree from root to the tiniest branch” but also a need for personal fulfillment (11). Her journey to find herself begins under the pear tree but she had to travel through her marriage to the respectable, dependable Logan Killick, wind through her marriage to the showy Joe “Jody” Starks and end up with the love of her life Vergile “Tea Cake” Woods.
The story goes on to describe her mini- travels throughout the fields, picking flowers and singing songs. This suggests the innocence she possesses as a young child. ? She was ten, and nothing existed for her but her song?.
CALL ME BY YOUR NAME: A Beautiful Love Story Normally Swept Under the Rug Elio sits beside Oliver at the foot of the bed. Both are gauging each other’s move, as their innermost desires swirl in the inside. Who goes first, who touches first---that’s the question.
I just woke up from my bed and i found tears on my pillow..tears of joy, tears of gladness, tears of happiness that i have met the bone of my bone and the flesh of my flesh. The one whom i am willing to spend the rest ogf my life with, growing old with her and loving her until the end of time. The one that i would stick with for better or for worse, in sickness or in health, till death do us part. I always recall how we met, never knew we would go this far, but i have also come to realise that certain thing makes our relationship strong and this are principles and ideals we both share. Our abiltiy to communicate and express our feelings, our abiltiy to be responsive and also to have the mind concept of being flexible understanding the fact that there is no perfect relationship, but we must be willing together to attain that state of near perfection.
Arguably the greatest writer in English literature, William Shakespeare is most famously known for his prominent work of art, Romeo and Juliet. This tragic plot takes place in Verona during the mid-1300’s . Shakespeare is commonly referred to as the “The Father of English Literature”. Likewise, Elvis Presley is often referred to as the “King of Rock and Roll”. One of his most popular songs include “I Can’t Help Falling in Love with You”, written in October of 1961, sixteen years prior to his death. Although both the play and the song explore the effects of fate over freewill, Shakespeare uses complex literary devices to signify plot development, while Elvis uses figurative language, such as simile, to italicize the theme of fate.
I can surely say that I won't be able to forget about our love story. You were the most beautiful thing that could ever happen in my life. The most tender feeling I have ever endured. Having you in my life and having the opportunity to meet you brought warmth, love, and passion to my heart and soul. The fact that we decide to go separate ways has filled my heart with coldness, sadness and fear, not knowing if you would ever come back to me and perhaps you would forget me bring tears to my eyes.
Love happens when you least expect it. It can happen on the street corner, at the bar, at the grocery store, the park. That’s one of the greatest things about love. As for me I found love in the pouring down rain in the middle of the street. I fell in love with a man who I never thought in a million years I’d fall for. A man who is loving, caring and respectful. The night I laid my eyes on him I knew he was it. He came into my life at a point when I was unraveling and losing control. I was lost for two years after my high school sweetheart and I broke up, I thought I was never going to find real love, but I did. He saved me and I remember every minute from that night.
Five months ago, I started dating a guy named, Michael. Michael was a handsome gentleman whom I saw a future with. He was the type of guy that no matter how many times he entered my house, the first thing he’d do was shake my father’s hand. I was surely impressed with him and I think my parents were, too. We weren’t only just dating, but we were best friends. We told each other anything and everything. We often danced in my parent’s living room to music not from our era, which made it feel even more special. We danced to Sinatra and even Elvis Presley’s Can’t Help Falling in Love. It was the perfect relationship, appearing to be straight from a love story or even the movies. However, at the end of the summer before my senior year, everything changed in the blink of an eye with no warning and even no reason.
There are many positive things and negative things about the movie and the story. In the movie
