A Life In The Day Of Me My mother knocks. The door opens. Bright light blasts into my consciousness; I cannot see. I leap out of bed to reduce the longing to return and the cold hits me like a slap. As you can probably tell, I am not a morning person - I never have been. I have learnt to hate them over the years. We have never had heating on until Mid-November because my parents insist that they can't afford to heat the whole house. This makes mornings a nightmare! Once I'm up, I can just about manage. I dress and eat breakfast to music. Music is a significant thing for me. My parents used to be in a band together and my mother is still trying to get a record-deal. She always likes to think of herself as a young and trendy mum. She is really into the house and garage music scene, but me…I'm a different story. Everyone in my family has opposite views on music. My mother and one of my little sisters, Heidi, like pop and garage music. My father, my youngest sister, and I like rock and Heavy Metal. This causes terrible arguments over what to listen to in the car or whilst eating dinner. However, the one band that we all agree on is Nirvana. I am a massive fan of Nirvana and have flags and posters of them all over my room. This is why I listen to Nirvana in the mornings - because nobody minds. By the time I get to school, I am (almost) fully awake. I have to walk to the station and get the train to school so I arrive at school feeling like I've been up for ages. Once I get my brain in gear it doesn't slow down. I constantly think - about everything! I occasionally come out with a random comment, completely off the subject because I've been thinking about it while everyone else is speaking. People have therefore got the impression that I'm slightly mindless because I never know what people are talking about.
Waking up early at 6:00 A.M in the morning isn’t the funniest thing to do. The times on when school starts should be changed to a later time. Schools should change start times to later there is even factual evidence that this is true. In the article ‘The Teen Who Woke Up Her School’ by Jane Bianchi wrote about a teen named Jilly Dos Santos who put hard work into petitions and powerpoints to show how more sleep can better not only her but other people on school work and sports. Left with no chance to escape the brutal domestic violence, it ultimately provoked her to kill her husband with the help of her oldest son, Randy. Wendy was subjected to continual beatings and forced to have sex with Aaron against her will; she mentioned Aaron used to hurt her daily and sometimes, multiple times a day. The court sentenced Wendy 10 years in prison and Randy, 6 years, for first and second-degree manslaughter. Wendy killed her husband as an act of desperation and to protect herself and her children; Aaron did not attack her at the moment, but it was an act of desperation
Set your alarm at least an hour before you really need to get out of the bed. If you set the alarm for an earlier hour you get to hit the snooze button few extra times. After the third hit, you should have awakened enough to actually rise out of the bed. Fix yourself a cup of coffee, sit on the sofa, and stare into space at least fifteen minutes, but no more than thirty. This gives you time to not think about all that you have to do today.

I always thought of music to be one of the most comforting things, for when I was sad, angry, anxious, or any negative feeling, I would listen to “Moonlight Sonata” and it would immediately send me back to the years of Baby Einstein discs that my mom played excessively when I was younger (thinking it would make me somewhat intelligent, I can imagine), or even to my favorite childhood movie: Fantasia. The alarm goes off at six am and the typical high school student is barely able to open their eyes. It is time to get up and prepare for a full day at school, about eight hours. Most teenagers, according to the National Sleep Foundation, will only get about six hours of sleep since they tend to stay up until midnight (“Should schools start later in the day?”). After getting ready, many students look forward to a nap in their first hour class despite the information they will miss. Teenagers seem to always have had trouble getting up in the morning, even earning the title of lazy from their parents. However, recent research on adolescent sleep patterns has produced a biological explanation for this tendency. This raises a serious question: why are high schools starting early in the morning when teenagers are biologically programmed to sleep in? For most cases, school start time has not been conformed to fit student physiological needs simply because of transportation issues.
You must be disciplined enough to go to bed early for you to wake up earlier in the day. Discipline is what will get you to higher peaks but it all starts with knowing what you should do and what should be stopped.

Tuesday is a day that I have to wake up early because I am taking a class at nine thirty. At nine o?clock, the cell phone, clock radio, and TV wake me up at once. On the radio, NPR news is on the air but I turn it off quickly. From the TV, ESPN broadcasts the results of yesterday?s sports. Even though I like sports, I am so sleepy that I cannot pay attention to result and switch the TV set off. Finally, the cell phone wakes me up but I can not get out of my bed right away. I have a doze at most five minutes.
I brush my eyes awake, feeling the cold seeping in from my window. It’s 9 AM and it’s winter in Minnesota. Feeling sleepy, I stand up and go outside. I love the winter air. It always refreshes my mind and there’s just a cold bite to it that I enjoy. Coming back inside, I boot up my computer, hoping to enjoy it a little before heading out. Getting up early has never been something I enjoyed, but I know as I continue to get older it is something that I will have to do. Doing this is easier said than done, it means going to bed earlier, so that I can still get the same amount of sleep, while getting out of bed earlier. Starting this semester, I have 8 am classes, which means getting up around 7 am.
