In the world, there are two types of people; the ones who lead, and the ones who follow. Whether or not a person is a sheep or a wolf is determined by characteristics inherited from the outside world. The wolf personality takes control of the pack and leads it. While the sheep sits and waits for the wolf to create the path for them. These two qualities are defined by a series of characteristics. Great leaders are those who display unbreakable confidence, indestructible focus, and exemplary empowerment. A great leader expresses unbreakable confidence in even the most extreme circumstances. People are naturally attracted to leadership because it signifies assurance. For this reason, leaders are great at gathering people into their cause. When a great leader stands up for something he or she believes in they send others into a state of awe. A great example of expressing pure confidence would be the daring Martin Luther King Jr. when he stood up for civil rights. Although his life was …show more content…
Thus a leader with focus will run through plans numerous times before the final execution. For instance,. The more effort that is put into something the greater the outcome may be. Similarly, a leader with strong focus must fend off the many distraction that the outside world puts in front of his or her views. Such as a soldier fighting in Iraq. When he or she is thrown into battle it is important for them to keep their focus on the main tasks, any distraction could prove fatal. Hence a leader with focus knows when enough is enough because he or she knows if the pressure applied to their followers is too great the whole faction may crumble under its weight. A leader with focus takes the time to make sure all of his or her people are okay, and when a weakness presents itself a focused leader takes it upon his or herself to take care of it in the most appropriate way possible. In addition to confidence a great leader must display
One may wonder exactly what it is that qualities a strong leader possesses. A strong leader is determined, and strong willed. They must be of good judgment, and without bias. They cannot easily be persuaded, and they are firm, yet at the same time, a good lead must also empathize with his subordinates, and have the best interest at heart for said subordinates, at all times. However, with that being said, a good leader cannot be afraid to discipline his subordinates when necessary. Unmistakably, being a leader is a very difficult feat – one which not everyone can accomplish. A leader must be an authority, a friend and a counsellor, all at once. They must be responsible, and always take into account the disadvantages of a situation. Not everyone is suitable to be a leader, whereas, just about anybody can be a good role model.
A leadership theory is a clarification of some features of leadership; theories have practical importance as they are being used for better understanding, anticipating, and controlling successful leadership. Hence, the main principle of any theory is to inform practice(Lussier and Achua 2009). Leadership theories could be classified into eight main categories: Great man, trait, behavioral, contingency, Situational, Participative, Relationship , management (Cherry 2010).
In order for a leader to be a leader he/she must begin with the assumption that you are the one who matters most. As a leader you have to possess that level of confidence in yourself that you are capable of leading yourself “before you can lead others”. And when you develop this belief then you are better able of affirmative influence “on others”.
Leadership can be defined in many ways, but one thing all leaders have in common is determination to get a task done. Although leaders may carry out this action in many different ways they all do what needs to be done in order to reach their goal. Florence Nightingale was willing to gather a group of women and pick up and leave her home to tend to the wounded soldiers of the Crimean War.
Have you ever thought about how much politics are involved in our lives? Or have you ever thought about how much we look up to public figures? Public figures influence on our lives greatly, and they are now being told that they should not have the right protest standing during the national anthem because the national anthem represents the power and conquest of our country. I believe that not standing for the national anthem is disrespectful not only to our country, but to the men defending our country.
There are many different ideas about what it means to be a good leader and what the leadership means. In a simple explanation, leadership is a technique that an individual influence a group of people to achieve a common goal. A good leader can be a supervisor, manager or a business owner. Leaders are people who have expertise in achieving goals, no matter what their job titles are. Leadership is about coping with change. In a modern age we live, especially in the twentieth century, “more companies are looking for people with great leadership skills” because they can solve problems (2015, P. 13). In my idea a good leader has a vision and motivation to a team so that they can work together toward achieving
A Leader is like the rubber-band that holds together branches. While one is easy to break, multiple branches with rubber-band together is more difficult . And strong leadership lead their army or country forward. Strong leader process, critical thinking, understanding, willing to defend what they believe; And he or she also need to be convincing. Cicero was a strong leader, because he was an excellent public speaker, intelligent, and he was willing to defend his point of view.
Perhaps the most important qualities of a leader are passion and motivation. Especially when leading a group for a particular cause, a leader must be personally attached to that cause. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., for example, is a legendary leader because he fought for a cause that directly affected him. had he not been pushing for a personal reason, his actions would not have been as passionate. This would have caused a lack in motivation, another essential leadership quality. A leader faces many roadblocks and opposition and thus, must be motivated to continue fighting and leading. A leader’s attitude and opinions are valued by the group and therefore, if a leader is motivated, the group will be, too. The continued actions and successes, no matter how small, which move the group closer to its goal also help its motivation and drive.
Self-leadership is a concept that can be addressed in regards to the degree of which the processes that influence the self are characterized by responsibility, authenticity, and the increase of capacity. The importance and significance of higher-level standards is encompassed through authenticity (e.g., pondering the why, what, and how of self-influence). Corporate social responsibility shares the commonly understood elements of self-responsibility. Capacity is the growth and expansions of ones self-leadership potential. This can enhance results and create authentic as well as responsible ends (Manz, 2015).
To be a good leader requires a lot of attention and focus as well as the ability to say what nobody wants to hear. Not only this, but the ability to speak well in front of large demanding crowds of people and to be able to hold their attention for prolonged amounts of time. "For certainly no one can deny
All magnificent leaders, such as Abraham Lincoln and Franklin D Roosevelt, had courage, were confident, and they were determined to accomplish their goals. Being a leader requires someone to have courage, confidence, and determination. As a leader, courage is needed to gain success. With courage, a leader can make an executive decision to better himself and the group. Making this decision requires courage because you are taking a risk.
Leadership is defined as a process by which an individual influences others to obtain goals. There are three aspects that should be addressed when explaining leadership. One aspect is that leadership is a social influence process; leadership could not exist without a leader and one or more followers. Another leadership aspect is compliance; all of the leader’s directions must be complied with voluntarily. Compliance is what separates leadership from other influence-based formal authority. Finally, leadership results in the followers’ behavior, that is purposeful and goal-directed which must be in some organized setting (Leadership Theories and Studies, 2009).
When we work together in a team, or in a broader sense as a society, the leader takes on the most important role. It is the leader that helps prioritize activities and direct people’s thought process in the right direction. They are the ones who have the ability to bring the group together as a whole. Because of this, not anyone can be a leader. Only people with certain qualities and abilities are able to fill this role. So what makes a good leader? There is a defined path and specific characteristics that makes someone a good leader.
Throughout my life I have encountered the chance to experience position of being a leader. Being part of groups in university for class presentations, being the organizing secretary of my campus fellowship, being a youth leader in my church and the church admin, also being part of a family. Leaders are charismatic, inspirational and trust worthy. I have gained some important qualities of being a good leader through these experiences. Most of the valuable leadership’s characteristics that I obtained and strengthened are: learn to become a better leader every day, how to be a team player, to be a better listener, to be an effective communicator, to have more patience, not afraid of constructive criticism, to be outspoken, and to be a problem solver. Even though I have gained a lot, I still have more things to learn to become a better leader such as being more assertive, being more disciplined, becoming a better public speaker, and learn how to be realistic and not too optimistic. You are a leader if someone else choses to follow you.

This paper states my points in which I duly believe, justifies the importance of an outstanding leader in any organization.
