Big Island Times
Over the summer I went to Hawaii. It was a great experience and that is the reason why I chose the post I uploaded of a beach in Hawaii. It was there that I scuba dove, ate great food, and most of all, bonded with family. I have never done anything more interesting than spend time in Hawaii. It is an experience that I will never forget. It was by far the most amazing experience I have ever done in my life. I would love to go spend more time there and possibly live there. There were so many things about The Big Island that you cannot experience anywhere else. First, when I was there, I scuba dove. The first time I ever went out to Hawaii, I went to my uncle’s dive shop to go scuba diving. Previously, over the summer I had to take an online class so I could get certified. The class was split into six sections that took approximately a month to complete. When I was at his shop, there were so many things to observe that ranged from goggles all the way to boats. As I walked through the shop, I was astonished at all of the components and gadgets that were a necessity for diving. It truly ended up being an expensive hobby. Later, when we were reviewing all of the

The first night we were there we ate at the Oceanside Grill. We sat at the table closest to the ocean and you could hear the waves crashing on the shore. Our waiter approached us and asked us what we would like that night and I ordered a hamburger unaware of what was to come. As a few minutes go by I see our waiter, he has a plate with fresh ground beef and plate with buns on them; I was confused. He dropped both plates off in front of me and I had no idea what to do, then he said, “The grill is over there.” I was the one that gets to cook the burger! So, I walked over to the grill and began to cook my burger. When it was finished I went back to my seat and ate it. It was surprisingly very tasty. The Oceanside Grill quickly became my favorite

When I stepped out of the hot, airless plane into the bright, dazzling sunlight beaming down across the burning concreate, I felt excited and nervous. Holding my beach bag in my hand and slipping my Ray Ban sunglasses on with my other, I flip-flopped down the airspace. Overhead I heard the screams of gulls and the chatter of the small fluffy birds. I suddenly realized I had arrived to Hawaii. This trip was such an unforgettable vacation for me because I got to witness the beauty of nature that Hawaii has to offer.
As I opened my eyes, I saw a giant cruise ship in front of my eyes.It took two whole days but we finally reached Florida where we went Rock Gliding. It’s where you have to get past a giant, rocky maze. The winner gets to cans of ice cream.Though my sister won,we all shared the ice cream.Next stop, the Bahamas!!!In the bahamas we went parasailing up 700 ft above water level,it was so much fun.The boat driver even let us touch the smooth, light blue water with our feet. Finally, we ended with a relaxing dolphin swim on the soft, delicate beach of Jamaica.
Out of all the trips I have taken, Cancun was definitely the best. It was 2013 and I was in fifth grade. I had known about the trip for weeks and I was so amped up for the plane ride, for the hotel, and especially the ocean. I was in science and the teacher was getting mad because I was distracting all the kids by jittering all over the place. Finally I heard my name called over the intercom and I leaped for joy and ran out of the classroom. From school we drove to the Iowa Airport, got our tickets and loaded onto the plane. Our first plane took us to Chicago, Illinois where we boarded a plane , at the O’Hare International Airport, departing for Cancun,Mexico. The second plane was very lengthy, I tried to sleep but I didn’t actually fall asleep
Hawai'i is a land full of diverse people and ideas, starting from the Polynesians who decided to cross the ocean to settle and form the traditions practiced today by the Hawaiians. Unlike many other states, the beliefs of Hawai'i have managed to stay alive. Its unique culture is what attracts tourists most. Many people see it as a vacation spot, full of fun attractions and say, “When I go to Hawai'i I'm going to get some Hawaiian tattoos, they look so cool!” or “I'm going to buy a hula skirt, they're really pretty!” But all those hula dances and tattoos are not just for show. People do not know that there is more to it than ink or hip swaying; behind every hula skirt and every tattoo there is a story. Hawai’i’s culture consists of the significance of its dances, tattoos, and traditions that give Hawaiians their unique lifestyle.
What kind of person does it take to risk everything she has and take a chance that could change her life forever? It would be a chance that could affect her physically, mentally, and financially. Most people would keep what they had and had worked for rather than risking it all. In The Bean Trees, by Barbara Kingsolver, Taylor Greer took a journey to get away from the small-town Kentucky life that she has known forever. She drives west, not knowing where she is going, but that she has to get away. Throughout Taylor’s journey, Kingsolver showed how Taylor changed, grew, and thrived both physically and mentally as time progressed.
Growing up in Hawaii, I’ve had many unique experiences that other teenagers in the U.S. have not. My family has been living in Hawaii for several generations and ever since I was born, my mom strongly encouraged me to know and learn more about my heritage. Since my mom is from Molokai, she has had many different Hawaiian experiences. Also since my grandmother lives there, I’ve spent just as much time on Molokai as I have on Maui. To me, the real Hawaiian experience is on an island such as Molokai because there is so much more that hasn’t been seen or discovered like there has been on Maui. I believe that the real Hawaiian experience isn’t in a place that is overpopulated and crowded with people, but in a place that actually resembles old Hawaii.
One place I would absolutely love to see again is Washington D.C. I went there once with my parents and my brother. On the way to Washington D.C. we had stopped at Georgia and North Carolina and stayed at each place for a few days. When we went, we stayed at my dad’s cousin’s house. Since my dad’s cousin lived in Washington D.C. we didn’t have to drive everywhere, so we just walked. So, while we were staying in D.C., we saw a lot of different sights. For example, we saw Lincoln’s Memorial, Washington’s Memorial, and even saw the White House. While we were there we also checked out a bunch of historical museums.
“People have been diving ever since primitive man was forced to collect food from the sea,” says HawaiiScubaDiving.com (“History of Scuba Diving”, HawaiiScubaDiving.com Internet). Man has always been curious about the underwater world and has sought to explore it. This drove man to come up with new ways to extend his reach into the underwater world and to make the trip less difficult. Over time underwater exploration has been made easier due to man’s passion for exploring a fascinating new underwater world. Inventions such as regulators, self-contained breathing apparatuses, oxygen tanks, neoprene suits, and many more technologies have been used to make underwater exploration as easy and efficient as possible. Scuba diving has evolved into a wide range of advanced technology for the average person to explore a whole new underwater world.
My first trip to Lake Chelan was the best way I've ever spent a Labor Day weekend. My best friend's family invited me to go with them and although there were some downs, the ups were even better. This trip was important because I have never had more fun in my life!
U.S. News stated, “Maui isn’t just for beach bums and active types: The island offers up its own history and cultures at sites like Iao Valley State Park, Banyan Tree Park, and the Old Lahaina Luau.” This quote shows that Maui, Hawaii has many attractions that do not subject towards only one group of people, there are many different attractions that will gather the diverse interest of many. Some more of these activities include; snorkeling, surfing, going to different diverse beaches, going to national parks or museums, going whale watching, and so much more. Individuals frequently describe these attractions and activities as “once in a lifetime experiences”.
If I could visit any place in the world, I would want to visit Hawaii. I have always wanted to go to Hawaii so I could see the beautiful ocean water and warm sand. Ever since I was little I always imagined myself laying out on a warm beach with the sun beaming down on me making my skin a gorgeous golden tan with palm trees swaying around me. I live very far away from Hawaii so that means that I would have to travel, which I love.
Asia was awesome! Everything, from the food I ate to the people I met, gave me a new perspective on life. I still cannot get over the fact that I have traveled to the other side of the world. This school program gave me many memorable experiences, allowed me to learn a lot about the culture of Asia, and introduced me to friends that I'll treasure for a life time. I knew that there was a reason I got to go, and while I was there I tried to make the most of such an opportunity.
My most memorable family vacation took place two years ago. We went to Corsica, a French island situated in the south of France right next to Italy. I remembered waking up early excited to visit this new land. Used to take long flights, I was surprised to arrive to the destination after a one-hour flight. Even though the flight was short for me, it was stressful for my mom, she has never felt secured in a plane, probably due to the fact that she is afraid of height. When finally arrived at the destination, the dry and warm weather was there to welcome us. We all felt relief, and knew that this was the beginning of the summer. Excited, we had a lot of activities planned for the few weeks, me and my father could not wait to dive in the clear
Throughout someone’s life they will go to many places with their family, friends, another relatives. I have been on a few vacations that have made a lasting impact on my life. But one of the most memorable vacations I have experienced was with my cousins. I went to goa beach. Most of you probably don’t know about that beach but it is a very famous one in south India. I enjoyed myself to the fullest. The beach environment was enlightening. I would not have wanted to take this trip with anyone other than my cousins. We had a great time on the ocean sands and swimming in the ocean everyday made this vacation unforgettable.
