A Detailed Essay of My Journey on the Internet
The Internet is a wonderful and exciting place to research anything. At any given time, day or night, a person can log onto the World Wide Web and become part of a global community, just behind his or her computer monitor, delving into the high speed universe of silicon and circuit boards.
One large slice of this world is the plethora of consumer products always available online. I have chosen a product that many people have in their homes today and is an essential component to a consumers prized entertainment system - speakers. Speakers are an interesting topic to research, and I have been meaning to do that research for quite some time now. It is almost ironic that an earlier English assignment was to write about a journey, and this assignment turned out to be quite the journey itself.

I decided to start with the Web browser I use everyday, Microsoft Internet Explorer, to research this product. By typing the word speakers into the generic search engine, I came up with so many choices that I felt it would be better to search, instead, through the many brands and narrow my search down to just a few. I found only a number of brands that really appealed to me because they are well-known and respected. These brands were Sony, Bose, Pioneer and RCA Narrowing this large field down to only four brands made my research much easier and much more enjoyable. Name brands are all known for high end stereo equipment, and these seem the most reasonable in price for the everyday consumer looking for a good, affordable set of
Lucio Proni is an engineer and cofounded of the company with his high school buddy Jim Birch. During the mid-1970’s when they were on their summer break from the University of Florida, Lucio and Jim decided to mess around with component speakers and wound up building home loudspeakers for fun. They worked out of a garage in Lucios home and showed some of their speakers to their friends and some. Later on, a few of them even bought some, so they built a couple more to sell on the flea market. Lucio’s early success inspired him to start a speaker business so he could make a living from his work. In 1975, he joined fellow business partner and friend, Jim Birch and founded JL Audio; their company name being an amalgamation of the first letters of their names. They didn’t really start out their business with a solid business plan, their early days were instead marked by a lot of trial and error. At first they tried to sell JL Audio products to local audio shops. They found some success doing this since a couple of the loca shops were interested in selling their home speaker systems and kits. In 1977, business became scarce and they encountered financial difficulties as a result. In troubling times like this, it was Jims’s business skills, Lucio’s quality workmanship, and their combined tenacity that got them through it all. As a child, Lucio was given some valuable advice from his father; he said that “if you’re not willing to put your heart into something, then don’t bother doing it”. This work philos...
Schemas, the mental structures that we use to organize information around us, were predominate in the movie (Aronson, Wilson & Akert, 2013). The schema of what a professional baseball payer looked like was not what was around to play. All the men were off fighting the war so when the women started playing they did not fit the schema of what most people saw as a baseball player (Marshall, 1992).

Competitors to Wave would be Beats by Dr Dre, Sennheiser and Shure. First of all, Fountain understands that Dr Dre focuses on similar aesthetics and representable brand which brings you the status after using their products, whilst they also have celebrity endorsements; which benefits them from advertising and promote it into different classes. Also now that Beats are available in Apple stores which created a bigger market share. Sennheiser and Shure are focusing on contrasting and quality audios for professional use. This is a sign that Wave should combine the competitors’ strength to create aesthetics, trendy with high quality and contrasting product that fulfill both trendy and professional needs. (Refer to

Famine has struck parts of Africa several times during the 20th century, and to this day is still going strong. According to the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization, the average African consumes 2300 kcal/day, less than the global average of 2700 kcal/day. Recent figures estimate that 316 million Africans, or approximately 35 percent of the continent's total population, is undernourished. Although hunger in Africa is hardly new, it now occurs in a world that has more than enough food to feed all its citizens. Moreover, while Africa's population is growing rapidly, it still has ample fertile land for growing food. Hunger therefore reflects not absolute food scarcity but rather people's lack of access to resources—whether at the individual, house-hold, comunity, or national leve that are needed to produce or purchase adequate food supplies. The reasons people cannot obtain enough food are: several different historical patterns of in equality. These patterns include the in equalities between Africa and its former colonisers or contemporary financiers, and between Africa's rich and poor. It also includes in equality between members of the same households, where food and the resources needed to obtain it (such as land and income) are often unevenly distributed between men and women, old and young. Whatever the reasons for food deprivation, when the result is malnutrition it can do damage, increasing diseases such as malaria, rickets, anemia, and perhaps acquired immune deficiency syndrome aka AIDS Mal-nourished children suffer stunted growth and, often, learning problems. Malnourished adults have less energy to work. Over the long term, inadequate nourishment can cast communities into a cycle o...

Without regard to price, it can be assumed that the electrostatic speakers paired up with a woofer would be the first choice for audio quality oriented consumers. The light and widespread diaphragm provides clearer and more precise sound reproduction with a greater surround effect than what one would get from standard electromagnetic speakers.
The Internet has revolutionized the computer and communications world like nothing before. The Internet enables communication and transmission of data between computers at different locations. The Internet is a computer application that connects tens of thousands of interconnected computer networks that include 1.7 million host computers around the world. The basis of connecting all these computers together is by the use of ordinary telephone wires. Users are then directly joined to other computer users at there own will for a small connection fee per month. The connection conveniently includes unlimited access to over a million web sites twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. There are many reasons why the Internet is important these reasons include: The net adapts to damage and error, data travels at 2/3 the speed of light on copper and fiber, the internet provides the same functionality to everyone, the net is the fastest growing technology ever, the net promotes freedom of speech, the net is digital, and can correct errors. Connecting to the Internet cost the taxpayer little or nothing, since each node was independent, and had to handle its own financing and its own technical requirements.
There are many different types of ways to communicate with others. Different components make up the process of communication; there are nonverbal and unwritten factors such as facial expressions, tone and body language. It is important to know how these key elements can change the way a message is received. Examples of these types of demonstrative communication factors will be discussed in this paper.
In non verbal communication we transfer information by means of body language, gestures, how we dress up etc.
One of the main aspects in communicating is listening. An effective listener is one who, not only comprehends how the speaker feels but, also understands what they are stating. Building a strong connection between the speaker and the listener is one of the first steps to become a good listener. By building this connection speakers should first be in an environment with open minded listeners, it makes them feel more comfortable to state their opinions, feelings and ideas. Listeners should avoid being judgmental. The individual does not have to agree with the ideas, values or opinions of the speaker; however, to fully understand them, one must put aside their criticism. Speakers will believe that they can trust the listeners with their information when they know that they will not be judged. Miscommunication happens frequently, listene...
