A Critique of Three Kings Three Kings (1999) shows the use of various genres such as war,
adventure-when the four soldiers set off to steal and find the gold,
comedy-a map found in a prisoner's bum, an exploding cow, action-a man
diving for the camera in slow motion whilst a truck explodes behind
him and drama. The premise of the film is that in the aftermath of the
gulf war, four soldiers set out to find gold that was stolen from
Kuwait, but they discover people who need their help. The narrative
structure of Three Kings comprises a prologue which includes the main
characters in the film; George Clooney (Sergeant Maj. Archie Gates),
Mark Wahlberg (SFC Troy Barlow), Ice Cube (SSG Chief Elgin), Spike
Jonze (PFC Conrad Vig), Nora Dunn (Adriana Cruz), Cliff Curtis (Amir
Abdullah) and Said Targhmoui (Capt. Said).
Throughout the whole film, the colours used were mainly dark colours;
blue, white, black, green and brown. These colours are associated with
the sandy desert as well as the clothing of the soldiers and
civilians.
The lighting through out the film were high key lighting which made
the film appear as normal and realistic to the eyes if the audience.
There were a few low-key lighting for example in the sequence where
the four soldiers were studying the map under a blue lighting and in
another situation where a night vision glass was used in the day by a
soldier who wanted to try it out. This green lighting of the night
vision glasses gave an illusion of the matrix which was very
interesting. The part where the shot moves in slow motion in ...

When he was queried, he detailed both verbally and visually the result
of a bullet entering the body. This dialogue sets the pace in which
scenes of violence will be treated.
Throughout the course of the film, each scene involving violence, is
approached with a variety of techniques. In some scenes, the film
slows down to show each shot fired and when the bullet hits; in other
scenes, specific use of graphic close-up shots are used to illustrate
the effect of the bullet. When violence was a probability in the
scene, the camera begins to use close-up shots of all of the guns that
would be involved if violence erupts. The film was edited in a way
that the sound of a gun shot sounded natural. Techniques such as these
begin to afford the audience time to process violence that is being
portrayed.
Twelve Who Ruled by R.R. Palmer is a book that was written with a very meticulous amount of detail. The story covers the reign of terror in France from 1793-1794. Palmer takes the Committee of Safety and individually explains each member along with their role in the Reign of Terror. The book was originally published in 1941 by the Princeton University Press, however, in 1989, a new preface was added, leading to a reprinting of the story. The purpose of Palmer’s book was to discover what led to the extreme outbreak of violence during the Reign of Terror. He sheds light on the killings, paranoia, and the well known guillotine.

The content and construction of texts are inexorably influenced by the plethora of social, cultural, and historical factors relative to a composer’s context. Context thus becomes the principle medium for deciphering the complex and often didactic meanings within texts. Through the comparative study of Shakespeare’s historical tragedy King Richard III and Al Pacino’s postmodern docudrama Looking For Richard, both texts explore the various connections explored through the protagonist Richard with respective societal influence affecting their portrayal. Shakespeare’s text strongly conveys a sense of providentialism which was influential by the Tudor monarchy whilst Al Pacino thorough the implement of modern day media portrays these influences to a secular, postmodern audience.
After being jailed in the Birmingham city jail, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a Baptist minister who preached nonviolence, wrote this response to a published statement by eight fellow clergymen from Alabama. This letter was not only composed under somewhat constricting circumstances but was written in a way that can be analyzed to be considered as a classic argument. Not only does it contain the five elements needed in a rhetorical situation, but the letter includes the six parts of an argument, the five types of claims, and even the three types of proofs. Dr. King’s letter fully satisfies all requirements needed in order to be considered a classic argument.
...the predominant theme of disorientation and lack of understanding throughout the film. The audience is never clear of if the scene happening is authentic or if there is a false reality.
I am going to be analyzing about the first ten minutes of the film to
In America today, when the name of honor is often adulterated by glaring headlines proclaiming the guilt of an immoral politician or the fall of a disgraced executive, it is easy to forget that the country was founded for the pursuit of truth, for only in truth can people find real happiness. Thomas Jefferson famously included the pursuit happiness as an unalienable right in the Declaration of Independence, but in an intimate letter to William Roscoe, a British historian, Jefferson wrote, “This institution will be based on the illimitable freedom of the human mind. For here we are not afraid to follow truth wherever it may lead.” In his flagship novel, All the King’s Men, Robert Penn Warren embraces the Founding Father’s principles with his characterization of both Willie Stark and Jack Burden. Warren’s novel is an American classic because it traces the lives of two lost men as each man follows his personalized compass pointing towards complete understanding. After elevating him to unprecedented heights, Willie’s interpretation of truth returns to drag him down to the Underworld. Only when Jack learns that not even Willie can be omnipotent does he stop trying to understand everything. Willie Stark and Jack Burden embody the essence of Thomas Jefferson’s words because, in a sense, they both attain freedom through their pursuit of truth.
though in the end, he is overcome by the forces of knowledge. Willie did not

This TV series isn't all about the plot but about the message within the plot that viewers receive; this is a well thought out masterpiece of drama, that connects to millions of teens of the shows target audience on a high emotional level. Full of drama, as what happens in high school, where all the characters go from innocence to experience. The show has a good use of the domino effect where every little move causes another event. This effect creates a message of your words and actions have the power to change things and make a difference. The first domino effect is when Lucas Scott joins the basketball team where his half brother is the captain. Lucas joining the team starts drama between him and the whole basketball team along with their father.

In this essay, I will take the position that the philosophical implications of the Song of Solomon is to reveal a pure uncorrupted form of love that is based on the biblical version suggested in Eden which are boundaries of modesty, preparation of a home and a commitment before marriage. The Song of Solomon has been written in a poem form and was said to be a conversation between to lovers, a man and the Shunimite woman, although this most likely true there are still many other elements to pull out of this story besides just a conversation. The way the couple relate each other’s beauty as well as protection and boundaries in the narrative suggest a fuller form of courtship that is not supported by the common sensual standards of today. Not
Henry IV is a play that concerns itself with political power and kingship in English history. References to kingship are prevalent throughout the play, especially in the depiction of the characters. Although most of the characters in this play could teach us about kingship, I would like to focus my attention to Prince Henry. I think that this character helps us to best understand what kingship meant at this particular time in history.
