The Best Barbecue in the South
Barbecue is one of my favorite foods. I have always enjoyed going into some greasy barbecue dive, listening to the blues, and feeling pretty cool. Two joints where I have eaten are Big D's Piggy Strut Soul Pit Bar-B-Q in Clemson, South Carolina, and Hy's Deli right across from the School campus. Even though both of these restaurants pride themselves on their barbecue, Big D's is obviously the better.
As I walked into the Piggy Strut for the first time, I immediately noticed the different atmosphere. The sign at the entrance said, "Seat yourself if you want to eat here!" As I looked around, I saw some fat guy in the corner really jamming on an electric guitar. (I later learned that was Big D himself.) After much deliberation I decided to sit at the bar. Here, I ordered my sandwich and sat next to the cook after he made it. We watched cartoons for about an hour.
Hy's Deli, on the other hand, had a sign that read "Please feel free to seat yourself" in the entrance. Next, I noticed everyone staring at me. There were ten or twelv...
Chuy’s Tex-Mex Restaurant started in 1982 in Austin, TX off Barton Springs Rd. It was the vision of two friends, Mike Young and John Zapp. They wanted to create a restaurant that offered quality food, diverse options, and affordable prices. The first location was in an old, abandoned BBQ shack with limited room and space, but it would certainly do. Mike and John ran low on their budget for décor and ended up with $20 to spend. John went out to find as much décor as possible. “You can’t fake cheap.” said, John. One of the items John came back with was a velvet canvas of Elvis; thus the beginning of the signature culture and environment provide by Chuy’s. John and Mark say, “If you’ve seen one Chuy’s, you’ve seen one Chuy’s.” The one common denominator found in each location is the Elvis Shrine. From the very beginning The King has played a part in this successful restaurants growth and development.
Two locally owned famous restaurants in Sedalia, Missouri, El Espolon and El Tapatio, are both recognized as quality, authentic Mexican restaurants that serve Sedalia with outstanding service and great food. After paying each establishment a visit this past weekend, I have discovered some differences and similarities in the two. Although many of my relatives have chosen El Espolon as their favorite, I found El Tapatio to provide a more ethnic experience with their excellent food, sharp service, and clean venue.
Hi Mr. Jarrod! As I know you are expecting an important client coming in from out of town, and I would like to help you decide by telling you about the differences and similarities between two of my favorite restaurants. Hopefully, you find one of them suitable enough for your business dinner. I have been to many restaurants in town, but so far Ruby Tuesday and Red Lobster are my favorite ones. Ruby Tuesday and Red Lobster are two similar restaurants with a slight difference in menu, service speed, and price. They receive the same type of customers although the ambiance of these two places is little bit different.
This destination is home to tasty places to eat such as The Hard rock café, BB Kings, and Silky O'Sullivan's. The vivid neon flashy lights combined with the sound of sweet blues welcomes its visitors with a true Memphis vibe. Within these local eateries live bands perform weekly and even nightly. These bands offer a variety of music but predominately play blues and rock n roll. Not only does it gives Beale Street a true Memphis feel but also enhances the nightlife of Beale to be more inviting and exciting. Beale Street is known as However, one of Beale’s most famous places to eat is BB Kings, which has one of the most diverse and refined lineups of modern and mid- century blues and R&B in Memphis. BB Kings not only offers a variety of rock n roll but also a grand selection of delicious food and exotic drinks at the bar. Not only is BB Kings home for authentic food that will rock your taste buds, it also houses the reputation of being one of Beale Streets’ most visited restaurant on the strip. Their most visited band, known as their house band is the B.B. King All Star Band, and also regularly features Blind Mississippi Morris, Preston Shannon, and others. “Is Beale Street really Beale Street without the Hard rock café and its Elvis themed environment?” The beautifully decorated Hard Rock Café is commonly
Chipotle is my favorite place to eat. As I am sure it is for other people. Chipotle is a fast food Mexican grill. They are most known for how big they make your burritos. Now it is fast food but it isn’t actually fast, they’re like a restaurant but without the wait. They serve all naturally raised meat and organic beans. So there food is pretty healthy and worth eating. The employees are always nice and it just a great place to eat over all. Chipotle is a great choice for a quick fast food stop because it gives great service, atmosphere, food and value. My experience there is always a good one.
In late 1955, Dr. King was elected to lead his first public peaceful protest. For the rest of the year and throughout all of 1956, African Americans decided to boycott the Montgomery bus system in response to the arrest of Rosa Parks. After 382 days of protest, the city of Montgomery was forced to lift the law mandating segregated public transportation because of the large financial losses they suffered from the protest. King began to receive notice on a national level in 1960. On October ...
Historians offer different perceptions of the significance of Martin Luther King and the 1963 March on Washington. Without examining this event within its historical context the media publicity and iconic ‘I Have a Dream’ speech can easily overshadow progress that was already underway in America. It was insisted by prominent civil rights activist Ella Baker, ‘the movement made Martin rather than Martin making the movement.’ What is important not to overlook is the significant change that took place in the United States during the previous 100 years. Such that, many influential figures in support of racial equality opposed the March. The Civil Rights Act proposed by President Kennedy in 1963 was already in the legislative process. Furthermore the Federal Government was now reasserting power over the entire of the United States by enforcing a policy of desegregation. It is important to note that these changes all took place less than one hundred years after the Thirteenth Amendment in 1965 abolished slavery, and the Fourteenth amendment in 1968 acknowledged the rights of former slaves to be acknowledged as U.S citizens. With this level of progress Kennedy was against the March going ahead due to the argument that it was limited in what it could achieve. Today, King’s 1963 Speech is viewed as one of the most iconic speeches in history. However, was it a key turning point in African Americans achieving racial equality? Federal endorsement would suggest yes after decades of southern states being able to subvert the Federal law designed to break down segregation. This support built upon the corner stones of the Thirteenth and Fourteenth amendments in the nineteenth century. Therefore looking at the national status of black Americans fro...
Harrison, Robert Pogue. “The Civil Rights Movement” . Chicago: U of Chicago, 2014. 98-111. Print.
Despite the great efforts put forth during the Montgomery Bus Boycott of 1955 in which the black community and its supporters refused to use public transportation, transport segregation still remained in some southern states. As a result the civil rights group, the Congress on Racial Inequality (C.O.R.E.), began to organize what they called “freedom rides.” In 1961, the group began sending student volunteers on bus trips to test the implementation of new laws prohibiting segregation in interstate travel facilities (Peck, 161). Most notable was a trip they took from Washington, D.C., making stops in Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi. Upon arrival the group was met with violence and brutality from the Ku Klux Klan and others, but this did not deter them from getting their voice heard. In September 1961, the Attorney General petitioned the Interstate Commerce Commission to draft a policy making racial segregation in bus terminals illegal, and in November this was put into effect. The Freedom Riders gave national publicity to the discrimination that black Americans were forced to endure and, in doing so, helped bring about change not only in bus terminals but in the nation as a whole.
The term “fast-food” is usually distinguished by food served very quickly to a customer by drive-through or carry-out. Fast-food restaurants are highly associated with low-cost and malnutrition foods with brief consumer and employee interaction, and below average cleanliness based on restaurant health inspection reports. Chick-fil-A has changed the usual perception of fast-food restaurants. Rather than burgers and potato fries, Chick-fil-A serves chicken sandwiches and waffle fries. Chick-fil-A also shows their appreciation for employee to customer relations, rather than ignoring the social aspect of serving customers when operating at a fast pace. From the Boston Tea Party of 1773, the Civil Rights Movement and the Pro-Life Movement of the 1960s, to the Tea Party Movement and Occupy Wall Street Movement of current times, “those struggling against unjust laws have engaged in acts of deliberate, open disobedience to government power to uphold higher principles regarding human rights and social justice” (DeForrest, 1998, p. 653) through nonviolent protests. Perhaps the most well-known of the non-violent protests are those associated with the Civil Rights movement. The movement was felt across the south, yet Birmingham, Alabama was known for its unequal treatment of blacks and became the focus of the Civil Rights Movement. Under the leadership of Martin Luther King Jr., president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, African-Americans in Birmingham, began daily demonstrations and sit-ins to protest discrimination at lunch counters and in public facilities. These demonstrations were organized to draw attention to the injustices in the city. The demonstrations resulted in the arrest of protesters, including Martin Luther King. After King was arrested in Birmingham for taking part in a peaceful march to draw attention to the way that African-Americans were being treated there, their lack of voter rights, and the extreme injustice they faced in Alabama he wrote his now famous “Letter from Birmingham.”
From a succulent fresh lobster tail to a mouth-watering red snapper filet, everyone loves some type of seafood. The residents of our city are lucky, restaurants specializing in seafood are plentiful. Many locals consider Pappadeux and Joe's Crab Shack to be the best. Although they both serve wonderful, fresh seafood, the differences in the menu, the service, and the overall atmosphere set them apart from one another.
When it comes to fast food restaurants like Mcdonald 's and Burger King, people tend to wonder if they 're more similar or different. Each restaurant has qualities that separate them from another, but yet there are also many ways they 're similar, too. These two restaurants have been around forever and do a very big business around the world. Their greasy burgers, fries, ice cream, etc., are tasty treats to many americans that they can 't go a day without. They 're so focused on the food that they probably aren 't wondering what I am, what are the similarities and differences between Mcdonald 's and Burger King?
Lack of time to cook a proper meal and decide to order fast food? This situation always happened in everyone daily life. This shows that choosing fast food as a meal is already a trend in this modern era. Fast food and home cooked meal can be differentiated by time, cost and its nutrition value.
