Hazards in Huntington Beach
I live in the city of Huntington Beach, a city where the waves and beaches are famous and known all around the world for it 's surfing and one of the best places to be able to take your four legged babes to run and romp around in the sand and waves. A place that can seem like a piece of heaven to those that like to surf. But did you know that Huntington Beach has a dark side to it, one that many of it 's citizens do not like to talk about or don 't know about.
What is this dark side you probably wonder and here is the secret it is that Huntington Beach faces many hazards some that are natural made only by mother earth like earthquakes, flooding, water spouts, Santa Ana winds, and tusnamis. Others are man made like Naval Seal weapons, older Nuclear generating stations at the San Onofree and refinery oil spills just waiting to explode if not well

Water spouts have happen in the Pacific oceans in Huntington Beach where an intense funnel-shaped cloud vortex happens over a body of water. This vortex is a non-supercell form tornado over water.(water spouts definition). During a water spouts you can see dark clouds over the ocean.
Santa Ana winds are natural made, the Santa Ana winds are strong, extremely dry down-slope winds that originate inland and affect coastal Southern California. When the Santa Ana winds arrive they usually can tear down trees, and destroy wooden fences that are not well built. Santa Ana winds have been known to turn over cars and even destroy buildings. The Santa Ana winds can cause fires out in the forest parks and even make it hard for firefighters to turn out fires at the parks.
Other hazards that Huntington Beach faces are man made for example the Naval Seal weapons, the Naval Seal Weapons are hazard because the Naval seal weapons
Semaphore is a classic Adelaide beach supporting many facilities. However, this would not be the case if coastal management was not put into progress. Coastal management is a way of supporting the world’s coasts, by using many techniques from construction of structures in which prevents wave energy from reaching the shore to planned strategies. Factors of this includes; rising sea levels, erosion, long and short term drift, sand movement and marine biology. The importance of coastal management is quite significant as it will help to prevent coastal erosion. In addition to this, without coastal management the world will be affect economically, environmentally as well as socially. Without the strategies involving the management of the coast,
The whole island is in the shape of a giant square with white sandy beaches full of people sunbathing, swimming and fishing right on the shoreline. From the end of the hot pavement parking lot to shore of the beach is an ocean of soft white sand. The pearlescent white sand seems to know how to invade every nook and cranny almost as if it enjoys it. Walking around the beach on the fluffy whiteness surrounding the parking lot, the seagulls are fighting over scraps of food on the ground. “Sandy beach ecosystems provide invaluable services to humankind. Their functions have been exploited through history, with significant anthropogenic effects (Lucrezi, 2015)”. This white sandy beach is a beautiful refuge from the mundane grind of everyday life. The smell of the misty ocean air mixed with the sound of seagulls hovering above and kids playing is a tonic for the mind. The feel of the sand between their toes and the waves crashing over them as people swim in the water, or the jerk of a fishing pole when someone is catching a fish makes Fred Howard Park one of the best places to relax. Standing on the beach looking out on the water, people are kayaking and windsurfing. The lifeguards watching vigilantly in their bright red shirt and shorts, blowing their whistles when they see someone being unsafe. After a long day of swimming and laying around visitors head back over the soft white sand to the showers, in order to rinse off the menacing sand that clings to everything like a bad habit. Everyone rushes over the hot pavement burning their feet to reach their cars so they can put away their beach paraphernalia which is still covered in the white sand, nearly impossible to completely leave behind, so when they get home it serves as a reminder of where they were that
There are many different types of coasts that exist throughout the United States. The south shore of Long Island has a unique types of coast known as a barrier beach. Barrier beaches are long narrow land forms that are composed of sand and other lose sediments. These sediments are brought together by the actions of waves, currents and storm surges. Barrier beaches are subject to constant changes by the same forces. Sand is constantly eroded in one area an deposited in another. Barrier coasts are important for a number of reasons; they protect the mainland of Long Island from the open ocean and flooding during storms, for recreational use and the unique ecosystems which exist on barrier beaches.
Dioxin and The Times Beach Evacuation The Jingle Bells of 1982 did not bring in a merry Christmas for the residents of Times Beach, Missouri, a small town of some 1400 people. During the annual town Christmas dinner, the residents finally received the news that they had hoped would never come. The residents of Times Beach were to be relocated and the town were to be bought out by the federal government. This was the first time such a thing was done since the founding of the nation. The buyout of Times Beach and some 50 other sites in Missouri by the government beginning in 1983 was prompted by the largest civilian exposure to dioxin in the United States.
In the year 2000 the Englewood community had high hopes community reinvestment was on the upswing. Kennedy King College was being relocated and the housing business was booming, but all of the toxic loans came into effect interest rates ballooned and residents could not make their payments. This left the community with high foreclosures and empty buildings. Therefore investors pulled out of the neighborhoods and residents fled; as a result the numbers of abandoned buildings and vacant lots on many streets outnumbers occupied buildings. Drug dealers use the abandoned houses to store their drugs; addicts break in to shoot up, and get high. Sexual predators drag victims into empty houses, and prostitutes find decrepit ruins convenient for doing business. (Chicago Tribune, 2011) Englewood is bordered by 55th Street on the north, 75th Street on the south, Racine Avenue on the west, and State Street on the east. The total area is approximately 3.1 square miles.

... dunes will hold off the wave that would be coming ashore. There are signs all over the city, and we have been going to Manzanita for over 15 years, our family has never talked about who to do, we don’t know where to go and we don’t have a emergency supply stored in case of any emergencies. I truly believe that the city has to educate their residents and run practices, like fire drills for schools. I think being prepared and educated will save many lives if and when we get the big one in the Cascadia region.
While walking down the beach, the white, warm sand mushes between your toes. The sun’s radiant rays beam off your glowing skin. The sound of waves crashing blocks out the external world. There is no other place like the gorgeous tropical islands of Hawaii. The wide range of flowers, cuisine, and wildlife makes it one of the most picturesque places on Earth. It also leads the United States with the highest racial minority rate making it the most diverse state. However, there are numerous hidden dangers of Hawaii, and not all ethnic groups get along causing sharp tensions across the island.

This state is full of more cities besides just Los Angeles and San Francisco, for example, my city Richmond, California. I wasn’t born there, but I have lived there most of my life, and there is a certain appeal is there, but its not the stereotypical beauty you see in any infomercial. This city isn’t celebrated nor is it world recognized for its accomplishments, but it is a small city with hidden treasure. The hidden treasure are the success stories that the community does not expect, and that can create a sense of empowerment for everyone around us. That empowerment is something that should be seen nationally, especially since Richmond is not the only impoverished city in

People from all over the world go to beautiful beaches that are filled with water as clear as ice or as beautiful as diamonds. But, what will happen if we do not conserve the appealing sites that draw attraction to the public? Contaminated beaches has become a controversial issue to the public because of the causal problem, the harm to the people and marine animals, the government agencies supporting or opposing pollution, and the industries involved in creating such unlawful decisions. To create and find a solution, we must first find the core to the problem.
