Historical Facts Where & How Does This Faith Perspective Originate? Judaism originated in 2000 B.C.E. in Canaan, which is now Israel ad Palestinian. This faith perspective is based on the patriarchal narratives in the Hebrew Bible, accordingly tracing the birth of their nation. Along with this text, the origin is associated with Abraham, who was nomadic herder that entered a unconditional covenant with God, as he is promised to be the father of a great nation, be given a good land, and in return nothing is expected. Founder & Followers: Judaism was founded by Abraham, father of faith. He was promised by God to be the father of a great nation, and be given a good land, and in return nothing is expected, also known as the divine covenant. Abraham leaves his home in search of this unseen land and promise, commonly referred to as faith. The combination of divine covenant and faith is the basis for the human divine relationship. He encounters challenges: age and inability to trust promise. Abraham's family develops the followers through the family line with Isaac, Jacob, and Jacob's 12 sons who become the 2 tribes of Israel. The favorite son was Moses, who had presented by God on the Mount Sinai, "The Law." Israelites continued the religion, they faced bloody battles, and in th end they create a government with checks and balances. Major Writings (Scriptures): The Jewish Bible, Tanakh is made of 39 books, which consists of law (Torah), history, poetry, wisdom, songs, and prophesy. Ritual Formation: Jews worship one God, as the faith is monotheistic, and God's name cannot be spoken, nor can he be seen as he appears in a vision of smoke. The Shabbat is a twenty-five hour observance which includes lighting and blessing of candles at home, and having service along with a festive family meal. Jews also oversee the Jewish New Year, and the Day of Atonement. On a daily basis they Jews conduct three devotional services, one in the morning, afternoon, and evening, in which they recite, it is ideal to perform these prayers in a synagogue. Judaism originated in the Middle East. Judaism calls that all things are under Gods rule. This brings Judaism into its most essential feature. The most essential of all Jewish beliefs is that a single, transcendent God created the universe and continues providentially to govern it. Another important feature of the Jewish religion is the Torah. The Torah is Gods revealed instruction to his people and for humankind expressed in commandments. The covenant is also a major concept to the Jewish religion. The covenant is an agreement between God and his people. This agreement said that they would acknowledge God, agreeing to obey his laws; God, in turn, would acknowledge Israel as his particular people.

Judaism, the religion of the Jews, is one of the oldest religions in the world. Judaism, in fact, is the oldest of the three major religions that believe in a single God. The other two, Christianity and Islam, have been strongly influenced by Judaism, which is a big part of western civilization today. In the beginning, Jews were a tribe, a band of nomads, more than likely shepherds that may have died out if they would have remained merely shepherds. Jews were one of many “nations” to be found in the ancient Near East.

On the other hand, Christianity traces its origin from Jesus Christ from whom the disciples, at Antioch, were first called Christians due to their manner of living, which was like Jesus Christ’s. Both Christians and Jews believe in one God who is called Jehovah; however, the point of divergence is that while Christians believe in the trinity (that is, God is one substance but three persons in one namely the Father, Son and Holy Spirit), the Jews believe in God being just one substance one
Monotheism is the belief in the existence of one God. There are three of the most influential monotheistic religions in world history today known as Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. These three religions share both vast similarities and differences. One significant similarity they share is the belief in one deity. The belief of one God gave many people guidance and purpose in their lives. For this reason, these three religions gained many followers and believers who had faith in God. Through faithfulness in God, many were promised eternal paradise. In the following paragraphs, I will explain the similarities and differences between the rituals, holy scripts, and salvation that these religions shared.

Althoughthe two religions share some of the same beliefs, there are vital differences between the two. Judaism is called the religion of the Jews and was the first faith to believe in one God. Christianity then followed that belief. Both religions are based on monotheism (that there is only one God).
Judaism is one of the most ancient religions in the world. Abraham, his descendants, and Moses are believed to have been the founders. According to Jewish beliefs until Abraham man worshiped many Gods. The story begins with Abraham and his wife Sarah trying to conceive a child. When Abraham was 99 and Sarah 90 God came to Abraham and told him they would have a son. After the child was born God again came to Abraham and tested his beliefs by asking him to sacrifice his only son Isaac. Isaac willingly went with Abraham to be sacrificed. Before Abraham could sacrifice Isaac God sent an angel down to stop him. As a reward for his faith God made a covenant with Abraham that he and his descendants would be protected as long as they continued to show faith in him and live a life that was wholesome. Also from this it is said God blessed Abraham with many children. His son Isaac had two sons Jacob and Esau, Jacob who changes his name to Israel had twelve sons. Israel’s had twelve sons they are the “12 tribes of Israel” and their descendants are later known as the Israelites also called Hebrews.
