There are many thing's I plan to improve and expect to happen this 8th grade year. So far, this year I learned many things are different from seventh grade. For example, in seventh grade we didn't have exploratory class which is different. I never knew the school district required internet safety to be taught to 8th graders. When I first got my schedule, and saw I had that class it sounded like a ELT to me. After sitting through one or two class periods of exploratory and discovering what it was, I found out it seemed like more fun than I was expecting. Another thing that's different this year, is in this class we write journals every class periods. Last year we wrote one a week, and they were due by the end of the class periods. Moving on
As many people have told me before, it is a very different ballgame than middle school’s easy going years. There is much more work, the classes are harder, and the environment is completely different. Many people’s grades may slip and they may cower in fear at the barrage of assignments they receive class after class. Unlike other people, I am confident in my ability to excel at all classes and to sustain exemplary grades. Therefore, while many are trembling in fear at the prodigious assignments and work is bombarding them from all angles, I will be at ease, knowing that whatever obstacle is thrown my way, I will conquer it and be its own
Dear Future 8th grader, I know how you feel you are excited to start the year off with a boom and that's a good thing later on the year your going to get less and less excited about 8th grade but just remember what started the spark at the beginning of the year and what causes that boom to happen. As you progress along this year you should just become more excited and never get bored of class or your work because think of all the fun and cool things your going to achieve just by doing your work.
Eighth grade was one of the greatest school years of my life. This year was full of new experiences, and I have learned so much from them. In English class, we’ve learned a bunch of skills and did numerous activities. We learned about Anne Frank and the Holocaust. We had the opportunity to read many great books, all having a special and unique meaning to them. Our class also learned a variety of skills and strategies ranging from reading comprehension tips to learning how to use the comma. ELA this year was extremely informative and helpful but amusing at the same time.
I have learned so much material and more. I learned soon into the year that I couldn’t just study a little bit the night before a test, so now I study for a little while every day starting some days before the test so I feel prepared when it comes. I have also learned that for my academic benefit that I can’t procrastinate each night. Now, whenever I am doing homework or studying, I leave my phone somewhere where it can’t distract me and grab a snack before I start so I don’t have to get up at all. During 7th I grade I have also figured out how to use my class time more efficiently. This allows me to have less homework and ask teachers questions if I need to at school. I have also become better at being proactive, and because of this I get less missing assignments and my work doesn’t pile up. Finally, I have learned over the course of this year that school is all about the growth and improving yourself, and personally I have noticed that good, progressive growth often comes along with good grades. As a 7th grader this year I have been pushed and compelled to expand my academic abilities with the various assignments, projects, and tests in all of my subjects, and though at times it may have seemed like a challenge I have had growth therefore allowing me to push through these
We did so much, and it went by so fast, faster than any other previous year, and I wish it hadn't. My favorite part of this year was all of the trips. We went to Philadelphia and saw amazing buildings hundreds of years old such as the liberty bell and independence hall. We visited the Preschool down the road, and I made a new little friend. My favorite of all, Washington D.C. I got to spend 2 school days with three of my best friends still while learning. This was my favorite trip because I got to spend school hours with people on other teams, while still having fun. Eighth grade has more privileges than the other years, but you have to use them wisely. I wasn't exactly the best at using them wisely. Teachers knew me to be very sassy because I had quite the
High school and college are very dissimilar. There are the main differences and then there are differences that aren't very distinct. These differences include homework, teacher-student relationships, and attendance policies. In this paper I will discuss the major and minor differences between high school and college. I will also explain why responsibility is a very important factor in high school and college.
Sullivan, Patrick. “An Open Letter to Ninth Graders”. Bulletin of the American Association of University Professors, January-February 2009. This article, is an attempted to state expectation clearly, in Sullivan perspective. Provides goals so that the students can work towards over the next four years of high school. Expectations to exceed and be provided with college readiness, and knowing what to exceed. Recommending to find new ways to enjoy reading because an important part of your life. sustaining concentration on important areas, would develop skills, capacity to exceed of your attention, have a reading and writing process. Skills that will be important in college and beyond. Begin to believe that school, should not be a waste of time,
I will seek regular feedback from my family, friends and fellow students to see if I am improving and to see if they feel they can now hear and understand what I am doing.
Schooling is a very important aspect in our lives and one must go through many steps to gain a higher education. Two of these steps are high school and college. Although high school and college students aim for the same goal, which is acquiring an education and graduating, the demands, expectations, and social atmosphere extremely contrast.
When I started the 8th grade I was quite nervous and anxious at the same time. To be honest it's not that different from 7th grade. Even though most of your teachers probably tell you it more work and the teachers are really strictked it really no different than seventh grade. As long as you do your work and turn it in on time you will have a good year. If you're on team A you will have Mr. Dunford who teaches language arts, Mrs. Merritt she is the math teacher, Mrs. Lewis is social studies, Mrs. Hall teaches science, and Mr. Watson he teaches career literacy. The wonderful thing about having all of these teachers is that they have a good since of humor.
Coming into high school, I had many worries, most of them were nonsense. I kept thinking of how scary it was going to be on the bottom level of the school now, as the school I went to had grades seven and eight on the top floor as well. Everyone says that high school was going to be hard and the harder part was going to be finding what you wanted to do in life. I always pride myself on getting the best grades that I could in school. Specifically I wanted to get better grades when writing assignments. I can talk about things for hours on end, but when it is time to put pen to paper, my mind just
In the first quarter, my goals were mostly to just pass my classes with at least a B and since I started school a little late, I wanted to catch up with my work and bring up my grades because I was behind and failing most of my classes during the first few weeks. I also wanted to try and not get in trouble in my classes as much and I did not want to get detention. I met my first goal of bringing up my grades in all my classes from failing to passing and I am passing all of my classes with a B and above. I did not really meet my second goal of not getting in any kind of trouble because I got detention during the first quarter. I think some challenges for this new quarter is keeping track of my work and homework and keeping my grades up. Another
In the first semester of high school I learned many things I can do better with moving forward, to improve my experience as a student. I can do better with working on homework right away instead of delaying it. I can also work on getting better with studying for tests and the final. One more thing that I can work on is balancing out my school and social life.
The school year has started with me with a very frustrating experience. Junior High school was not exactly that way I imagined. First lesson was my explicit and direct exposure to what a junior high school is. From the first lesson I already understood that I have
Since I started at the University of Central Florida my grades have been progressively getting better as each week goes by. This is happening because the more that I am starting to understand what my particular two teachers are looking for the better I do on their assignments. I am taking two courses this summer. The first is Strategies for Student Success. This class teaches us strategies that will help us be successful students at UCF. This course teaches us about how to manage our time in college and outside of college as well. It also teaches us different techniques on how we can study for multiple classes and how to deal with our stress levels as we go through college as well. My other course that I am taking is English Composition 1.
