first would like to start off by saying thank you to everyone who attended Madison and Zack’s wedding. For those of you who don’t know me on the Leydig side i’m Nicole, Madison’s best friend since we were little girls. I am honored to stand her, and be apart of her special day. This is the day that we have been planning on since we were nine years old. We had a big scrapbook full of pictures, and the wedding was planned down to the month and date. Let me clarify something before i get started, this
Hi everyone good afternoon, and thank you for joining us today and making this beautiful day memorable. First of all, I would like to congratulate our loving parents, devoted teachers, supportive faculty, and of course the wonderful class of 2017. Today, I feel both extremely humble and entirely unqualified to be speaking before you. I would like to start by first reflecting on the importance of adults in our life. Parents are the first one to help us develop our way through life. Now some of us
Our sweetest songs are those of saddest thought. I hear the gentle laughter from my sister, I see the love radiating from my mom, and I feel the pride that my dad has for me. I’m surrounded by my favorite people. My parents, simple people with faint wrinkles and grey hair peppered within the darkness; they give me smiles that I can see are hinted with sadness. I feel each gaze that falls on me everytime my sister, the spunky redhead who’s always the life of the party, doesn’t think that I’m paying
Al and I want to thank you all for coming today to share this special day with us. It means a lot to us to have our dear family and friends here. We specially want to thank with all our hearts Virg Kiki and Enrique for offering their beautiful home to celebrate this beautiful occasion. We know it was made with lots of love and hard work and it means the world to us to be in your home with all our dear family and friends. We also want to thank Ia and Alicia who baked the gorgeous and delicious shower
willingness to be there for one another, while you each to feel your own dreams. Why marry if you don’t want to commit to them. You shouldn’t marry just to say that I am married. Marriage is a long life is a lifelong commitment, when making your wedding vows it’s unto the Lord. God has made somebody just for you. If you are seeking God first in your life then it will be impossible for you to miss the person whom God has for you. God has a right timing. It’s possible to find the right person, but
waited for this once-in-a-lifetime moment ever since I was twelve years old and I met the love of my life, Jada Lee. Today is the day that I am publicly going to announce my great love for her and I am horrified that I am going to mess up and ruin our wedding. I have had severe anxiety attacks ever since I can remember, but I shouldn’t be nervous about today. I am marrying my perfect angel. Jada is the only person that I have ever met that has always been able to calm me down when my anxiety kicks
Good morning everyone, my name is Lindsey Baglio and I have been honored to serve as the commencement orator for the Curry College class of 2017. President Quigley, faculty, family, friends, and fellow graduates, I am honored to speak to you today as we reach another milestone in our lives. First, I’d like to thank the administration and faculty here at Curry for their hard work and dedication, because let’s face it, without them half of us wouldn’t be here. Throughout our time here we had friends
Education is knowledge obtained in order to reach one’s full potential. A human being is not in the proper sense until they are educated. Two commencement speeches, “Failure and Imagination” by J.K. Rowling and “Real Freedom?” by David Wallace, and an article titled “The 4-Stage Response to Low Student Achievement” by John Lemuel, all have several aspects of education in common and provide knowledge and inspiration about the real idea and necessity for education. In these works, they all use personal
Comparison of the Two Speeches in Julius Caesar In William Shakespeare's play The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, two speeches are given to the people of Rome about Caesar's death. In Act 3, Scene 2 of this play Brutus and Antony both try to sway the minds of the Romans toward their views. Brutus tried to make the people believe he killed Caesar for a noble cause. Antony tried to persuade the people that the conspirators committed an act of brutality toward Caesar and were traitors. The effectiveness
Rat Race “There happens to be whole, large parts of adult American life that nobody talks about in commencement speeches. One such part involves boredom, routine and petty frustration” (Wallace 2005). This is what David Wallace in his 2005 Kenyon Commencement Address This Is Water refers to as the day in and day out of every day adult life. Wallace breaks the mold of commencement speeches with his nontraditional way of telling graduates the truth about adult life and what it means to learn how to
Commencement speeches are often a sending off to the graduates by a highly regarded person, and is suppose to have a purpose. The purpose of the speech is to: motivate, inspire, encourage, provoke, a call to action, and to give hope to the graduates as well as congratulate them on their achievements. Often the speaker is someone who is famous or have been successful in their life. In regards to how the speech is given, it usually starts out with the speaker congratulating the class. They will typically
He acknowledges the fact that his speech is different from other commencement speeches, almost as if he is self-conscious of the fact that his is not like those. We all know the many clichés that come with any motivating speech, and so does Wallace when he states, "Please don’t worry that I 'm getting ready to lecture you about compassion
Brutus's and Antony's Speeches in Julius Caesar William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar is a tragic story of the dog and the manger. After Caesar is killed Mark Antony, a good friend of Caesar, plots to revenge his bloody death. He knows there is strength in numbers, and through a speech at Caesar's funeral, Antony plans to win the crowd of Rome and turn them against Brutus and the other conspirators. Cassius is one of the leading conspirators and is weary of Antony; Brutus is confident that there
with the class an interesting and informative way to learn something new. Due to the speeches time limit, I knew I needed to be well prepared. I wanted to be less nervous before and during my speech. While presenting I was nervous, but I didn’t really have time for these feelings to sink in because I was focused on the information I wanted to share with the audience. I enjoyed presenting in the second group of speeches so I could see my peers different types of speaking style. The audience seemed alert
The Speeches of Elizabeth Cady Stanton, “Declaration of Sentiments”, “Solitude of Self”, and “ Home Life” Not long ago, in the nineteenth century, the words that our forefathers wrote in the Declaration of Independence, “that all men were created equal,” held little value. Human equality was far from a reality. If you were not born a white male, then that phrase did not apply to you. During this period many great leaders and reformers emerged, fighting both for the rights of African Americans
A Critique of Bush's Speeches after September 11 After the terrorists attacks on September eleventh, President Bush had to prepare himself to address the nation with intensions to calm the United States citizens and give them some answers. The President had many speeches in the week after this happened and some words he used were not as concise as they could have been. These words and phrases are his attempts to comfort the United States people but only anger the terrorists he has declared war
expectations for his speech. For Steve Jobs the 2005 Stanford Commencement speech was a success because he had a clear and focused message and it was engaging in content. In 2005 at the Stanford Commencement Ceremony Steve Jobs gave his most famous speeches. Although Steve Jobs himself has never graduated Ivy League School or even any college he was still well qualified to speak
Mother Teresa’s Unconditional Love The book, One Heart Full of Love, is a combination of speeches and interviews featuring Mother Teresa given during the 1970’s and early 1980’s. It’s very obvious to me that Mother Teresa was a very simple woman. Each of the chapters in the book covers virtually the same information. The stories discussed in her speeches were all very similar. She seemed to use the same stories but add a little different twist depending on the crowd she was addressing. I really
Key Speeches 1. a. Romeo b. Romeo sees Juliet moving around in her room. He snuck into the Capulet orchard and is talking about Juliet. c. NO VOCAB d. yonder- over there envious- jealous e. But wait, what's that light in the window over there? It is the east, and Juliet is the sun. Rise up, beautiful sun, and kill the jealous moon. Both of the speeches, Martin Luther King's and Cesar Chavez', are powerful peices and communicate one vision: equality. King and Chavez have two very different styles of writing but the message from both is simmilar. for example both king and chavez discuss how their people are discriminated against because of their skin color, and how their people have neither the right to vote in the the south, nor the will to vote in the north , and in Chavez' situation, to have their vote counted. however similar
The wedding day is one of the most important days in a couple’s life, and to be asked to give a speech by the bride or the groom is the highest honor one can ask for. Whether you are the best man, the maid of honor, the bride’s bratty brother or the chief of the groom’s girl gang, if the responsibility of delivering the wedding speech is on you, you’re likely to face varied emotions. Once the pride of being the chosen one sinks in, it’ll soon be washed with the fear of impressing the crowd (which can be daunting if it’s not an easily pleasable one) with a fresh, original, funny yet heart-touching speech. What’s more? If you’re someone who’s not fond of public speaking, the wedding party may soon feel like an intimidating affair. Anyway, let’s get back to you being the ‘one’ for the couple who found their ‘one’, and how you can deliver the most noteworthy speech of your life!
The first thing that you need to do as you begin your speech, is to introduce yourself because even though one side of the wedding party may know you well, to the other side you’re the stranger who stole the most-coveted speech of the day. However, don’t go on about yourself, as this day isn’t about you, remember? Opening with a joke is not a bad idea, but read the room, you don’t want to be remembered as the one who cracked an inappropriate joke that made grandma choke. While sharing fond memories of the bride/groom is an absolute must, try not to bring up any embarrassing tales, especially the ones including past relationship fails. The main focus of your speech should be the newlyweds, so wish them all the health, wealth, and prosperity in the world. Last, but not the least important, don’t forget to thank everyone in attendance, and end the speech by raising a toast to the beautiful newlyweds!
