Stanford Commencement Ceremony is a very prestigious, it is an honor to be asked to speak for it. In 2005 Steve Jobs was invited to speak at Stanford’s Commencement Ceremony and he delivered his speech where some of his most famous quotes came from, such as “Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish.” -Steve Jobs. When he steps up to the podium viewers can tell that the crowed has high expectations for his speech. For Steve Jobs the 2005 Stanford Commencement speech was a success because he had a clear and focused message and it was engaging in content.

Each of his stories relates back to his main message and theme. Every time he told a new story Steve Jobs would relate that back to the main purpose. For example he first tells a story of how he went to college but then stopped taking the classes he needed and started taking classes he wanted. He started doing what he loved and that is when he became very successful. Steve Jobs tells the audience that they need to do what they love because when you find what you love you will be truly satisfied. When Steve Jobs tell the story about how he was told he was going to die because he had cancer he relates it to how he always to live each day as if it were his last. He lived each day as if it were his last which because he wanted to wake up each day and say what he was about to do would be what he wanted to do if it were the last day he was to live. Steve Jobs said that is why it is so important to do what you love because you might die and you never had a chance to do what you love. When Steve Jobs gives his speech he does it in order of events which helps listeners follow along. He starts at the beginning of his life and then goes to the present of where he was when he gave the speech. Informative speeches use chronological order because it makes sense and it keeps the speech flowing when the main points are in order by date. Demonstration speeches need to be chronological because it would not make sense to put something in the oven before it was mixed up. Another good time to use chronological order is when the speaker is telling about someone 's life. When speaking about someone’s life the speaker would need to go in order of events such as birth, life, death. Steve Jobs’s Stanford Commencement Speech was in chronological order. He started with birth and ended with near death. When Steve Jobs starts his speech he tells listeners that he is going to tell them three stories from his life. He tells these stories in chronological order, each one building on to the last. Steve Jobs presents each item in order, nothing is out of place. Keeping his speech in order made Steve Jobs’s speech a success. It made sense and was easy to follow which make it pleasant to listen to because listeners did not have to struggle to keep up with where he was going.
