Workplace stress can be defined as the negative reaction of people to the environment and social life. There are different types of stress and its stressors we face in our daily lives. A huge source of stress comes from the workplace. It is caused by work and workload. Many employees become victim of the stress in the workplace both physically and mentally. This is underlying the workplace stress. This essay will discuss internal and external stress. Firstly, internal stress comes from inside of us. In other word, the stress harms us mentally, and our body’s ability to response to it. Sekimoto (2008) suggests that internal stress is everywhere around us. Signs of this stress usually may include feeling down, thinking about detrimental things, sulkiness, cry without reasons, pessimism, and homesick. Other reasons of internal stress are; employee doesn’t satisfy with his/her work, workload, working long hours, lack of knowledge for the task at hand, and undealt interpersonal conflict at work. For example: if employee didn’t do something good enough, boss will argue for it or have worse relationship with colleagues because of it, this gives damaging things for that employee. It is not good because he/she meets internal stress because of that issue and then maybe he/she will self-murder. Also, external stress comes from outside of our bodies. The reasons are pollution, our job, financial worries, being too busy, relationship difficulties, meet difficulties, poor working environment, poor career development, problems at home, and other outside factors. All of these factors are beginner of external stress in the workplace. Dervaux and Amor (2007) as cited in Sekimoto (2008) state that a cause of external stressor is high sound place... ... middle of paper ... ...self from stress. After work, he should spend more time with his family than before, enjoying his spare time doing whatever he likes, being peaceful in mind, play with children who have beautiful energy and normally smiling with amusement. In conclusion, workers should balancing theirs relax time and work time unless employee cannot avoid stress. This will help us to reduce the chance to get stressed and forget in 21st century’s problem. Stress in the workplace is caused by work and workload. Employees are harmed emotionally and physically by workplace stress. There are two factors of stress in the workplace which are internal and external. When you are relaxing at home, just forget the problems at work. This is the only time you have to relax and being peaceful. Lastly, stress always brings negative attitude and affects your health, so relax as long as you can.
