Stress is defined in the dictionary as “state of mental tension and worry caused by problems in your life”. Everyone encounters stress in their life caused by many different variables in life and we all cope with in different ways. The way one copes with the stress is how it can affect our body. Some take to working out, eating healthy, take breaks from what is stressing you out and getting plenty of sleep which are good ways to cope with it. Some take to other coping mechanisms that are not very great for the body. Some examples are stress eating, abuse of drugs and alcohol, bottling up the stress, and depression. These bad methods can cause serious damage to one’s health on the body. Stress is a normal part of everyday life. From what happens to you and around you, plus the many things that one does to themselves put stress on the body. The common causes of stress that most people encounter are problems in personal relationships, starting a new job, financial situations, daily hassles, illnesses and legal problems (webmd.com). When the body encounters long periods of stress like those our body begins to give off warning signs that something is not right. When we encounter these warnings they shouldn’t be ignored. One must watch out for signs like depression, lack of sleep, and compulsive disorders that may be signs of an overload of stress on the body. Spotting these damages can be fairly easy as they come with many signs that are caused by stress. Physically the body can give off many signs which can be associated to other health issues so one may not notice associate these signs directly to stress. Some of the physical signs caused by stress are dizziness, sweaty palms, lack of sexual desire, weight gain or loss, difficulty sleeping, headaches and indigestion just to name a few
