From the time of the American revolution through 1920 women fought to attain the same social, political, and economic status as men in the United States of America. In 1920, women in the United States of America won the right to vote by virtue of the passage of the 19th amendment. However, the struggle to attain that right was a long one which was fought with violence, political turmoil, and social upheaval.
