Physician assistants do lots of different tasks throughout their day. Physician assistants work with patients that have injuries, illness, or need checkups. Physician assistant diagnose their patients with injuries or illness (BLS.gov). P.A’s work in lots of different places where different people with different problems will come in to be checked out. Being able to diagnose patients is one of the most important skills to have for the job since you will be working with different illness/injuries. Physician assistants develop and carry out treatment plans (money.usnews.com). Physician assistants need to have bachelors or master’s degree (aapa.org). They need to have a degree to practice medicine and get in to a P.A program. During college P.A’s need to take classes that teach them medicine, biology, psychology and therapy (careeronestop.org). Physician assistants need to take these classes so they will be educated in their practice. Also during college students need to take 2,000 hours of clinical rotations so they will know what to expect and understand the daily life of a physician assistant. To work as a physician assistant after college they will need to be certified and have a state license (aapa.org). Once a P.A is certified in their state they will be able to work and apply for jobs to be an official physician assistant. Also their salary will increase to be about $187,760 and the physicians supervise the physician assistants and other staff in their office. Physician assistants can go in to cardiology and be a cardiologist (thebalance.com). A cardiologist specializes in treatment of heart disease and heart abnormalities. They get paid around $461,000 which is a lot more than a physician assistant and need a bachelor’s degree and go to medical school. P.A’s can also advance in to nurse anesthetists (bls.gov). Nurse anesthetists is a very similar job to a physician assistant. To be a nurse anesthetists you need to have a master’s degree.
