If you are a new student and are thinking about pursuing a career in the medical field, like me, you have a lot of options. You could become a Registered Nurse, a Physician, a Physician Assistant, a Dentist, an Audiologist, an Anesthesiologist or many other professions. In this article I am going to narrow it down for you between a Physician and a Physician Assistant and I am going to tell you why I would prefer being a Physician Assistant over the highly prestigious Physician career. Physician Assistant is a relatively new career and there are many misconceptions about what individuals with this title do in the medical field. First I would like to state that any career in a medical field takes a lot of dedication and many hours studying and it is not for everyone. I would also like to say once an individual has made a career out of it the job has long hours and can be very stressful, so I suggest readers to not consider a career in medicine unless you are genuinely interested in the work, and are not in it just for the money. So say that you are genuinely interested in helping people you would want to make the most money possible doing what you love right? So the obvious solution would be to become a Physician. It just makes more sense that a Physician would make more money than someone helping the Physician. Well when you are already making insane amounts of money is it actually worth the extra time investment studying vigorously to earn a higher wage. To make a comparison becoming a Physician takes at least 11 years of post-high-school education. This includes four years at college, an additional four years at medical school, and then three or more years at a residency. It takes more than three years if doctor wants to specialize, with up to 9 years in residency. During residency doctors do not get paid a substantial amount earning from 40 to 50 thousand a year
