The career I plan on pursuing in life is becoming a certified medical assistant. Medical assisting is one of the fastest growing careers in healthcare. To become a certified medical assistant you will have to achieve a certification through the certifying board of the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA). While you can work as a medical assistant without being certified, employers are often looking for someone skilled and qualified. An important measure of quality is the extent to which patients' needs and prospects are carried along. Us, as medical assistant must possess sound interpersonal skills. We have to be able to create a positive rapport with the patient. Usually the medical assistant is first to understand the patient and sets the tone for the visit and perhaps the treatment program. Secondly, medical assistants need to be very good at time management. Making sure that the patient is seen and treated in a timely manner is vital to the flow of the schedule. A good deal of the time in our practice, I give birth to hold the physician on track as he tends to become caught up talking to the patients about other issues that aren’t connected to the attention they get.. He is mindful that he gets sidetracked a lot, and so I have little cues that I can use to let him know that he is taking too much time on non-related conversations, such as sports. The reason why I chose to use a dental assistant as the Healthcare Professional was because I think that they are very important along with the dentists. Overall it was an enjoyable, less stressful academic experience.I got a chance to take patient histories, examination and patient’s vital sign monitoring and charting. I didn’t feel much difference in observing my mentor taking the history and when I was taking the history, it could be related to my past experience. You need two years of postgraduate schooling after your basic four. Most people going into training already have bachelor’s degree and some type of healthcare training. Most people that are physicians assistants did not go into college wanting that to be there job. There are a lot of important skills needed to be a physicians assistant and those can make or break your career. Communication, emotional stability, and compassion are very important to have. Communication is key to be able to talk to your patients and let them know what is going on. Medical Administrative Assistants have numerous of duties in an office setting. Medical Administrative Assistants can get a job in a doctor office or a hospital. Medical Assistants work more in the front of office and hospital assisting patients and checking them in. By knowing some Medical Assistants I know some of their duties are: scheduling patients, greeting patients, doing paper work, handling insurance problems or statements, and also supervising entry.
