To start off the question it would only make sense to explain what the Sepoy Mutiny was. The Sepoy Mutiny also known as the Indian Rebellion of 1857. It was as said a rebellion in India. In this, the Sepoys or the Indian soldiers under British control, refused to to accept new cartridges that were used for their Enfield rifles. They didn't accepted new cartridges because they were offensive to the Muslims and Hindus as the rifles were greased with beef and pork fat and the cow was the Hindus sacred animal and Muslims do not eat pork. To answer this question "Why didn't Indians unite against British in the Sepoy Mutiny" though, I would actually have to change it saying, "why couldn't Indians unite against the British in the Sepoy Mutiny." My answer is, there attitude towards the Indians might be racist. Honestly it wouldn't be a surprise to say that based on what we already know about the Europeans being racist throughout history. For instance take what I talked about with Social Darwinism and Paternalism where the Europeans where very racist towards the Africans. It's all a matter of them thinking, "we are better than you and you can't do anything about it." And then there is basic evidence that the British were being racist. They decided to grease the Sepoy's cartridges with pork and beef fat. Obviously this would trigger the Muslims and Hindus! The Muslims because do not eat pork and what did you have to do to use the cartridges? Bite the ends that were soaked in Pork grease off. That's highly offensive as they don't eat pork and the fact that the British used pork grease rather than any other form of grease says that they might be offending them just to show that they can.. Or to be racist perhaps. Now with the Hindus, the cow is their sacred animal and the British are making them bite the ends of the cartridges that are soaked in beef fat. Now I see this as like telling someone to eat their beloved pet. It just does not make sense why anyone would be rude like this. Also, the British could have used any other form of grease but they chose to do pork and beef. To take this even one step further, if they …show more content…

Some even brought mixed results. For one, economies grew. They grew based on cash crops and or goods that could be sold on the world market. That most likely brought a lot of money and attention to South East Asia. Some of these products sold were tin and rubber. This was very beneficial for South East Asia's economy. Something that also changed was transportation and communication. These were changed because roads, harbors, and railroads were improved. This made it a lot easier for traveling and communicating to other countries. This really benefited European businesses however as they could get to South East Asia better.. But, because of this another beneficial thing happened and that was that education was better, people were healthier which most likely meant their medical system was better and improved, and everything was a lot more sanitary. I feel these changes benefited South East Asia and perhaps just made their economy a lot
