The Nurse and Friar Lawrence give Romeo and Juliet wrongful advice. The Nurse and Friar Lawrence rush into things too quickly. Friar Lawrence makes rash and reckless decisions. Friar Lawrence and the Nurse are both responsible for the tragic death of Romeo and Juliet.

Romeo is speaking with Mercutio and Benvolio in the streets when the Nurse approaches Romeo to see if he is eligible to marry Juliet. Romeo is about to tell the Nurse how he feels for Juliet, but the Nurse interrupts him by saying “Good heart, and i’faith I will tell her as Lord, Lord, she will be a joyful woman” (2.4.158-159). The Nurse quickly decides Romeo is suitable for Juliet without getting to know him, this makes her rational. The Nurse being rational proves that she easily rushes into things too quickly. The Nurse going to see Romeo confirmed that Juliet and him will be getting married soon, which indicates the situation is being rushed. Not only does the Nurse rush into things too quickly, Friar Lawrence rushes into things quickly. Romeo goes to see Friar Lawrence at his cell to ask if he would marry Juliet and himself that morning. Friar Lawrence is hesitant at first but then says “But come … In one respect I’ll thy assistant be: For this alliance may so happy prove to turn your households’ rancour to pure love” (2.3.89-92). Friar Lawrence agreeing so quickly to marry Romeo and Juliet, knowing they had just met last night shows he did not do his duties as a responsible adult to slow down their marriage arrangements. Friar Lawrence shows a theme of love and hate. He is hoping that the love between Romeo and Juliet will stop the feud of hatred between the Montagues and the Capulets. Friar Lawrence is a part of the action, character development, and themes of Romeo and Juliet. Without Friar Lawrence, the steps leading up to the tragedy at the end of the story would not have been possible, along with the strong characterization of Romeo. Lastly, through Friar Lawrence, the inevitability of fate and violence being caused by love were able to be emphasized more deeply. Although secondary characters are less important than the main characters, most of them have a strong impact on the story and its meaning.
Friar Lawrence finally had enough of Romeo crying and said, “Fie,fie,thou shamest thy shape, thy love,thy wit/ Which, like a unsurer, abound’st in all,/ And usest none in that true use indeed (4.3.122-124).” This is how Friar Lawrence helped married Romeo and Juliet and got Romeo back on his feet. Juliet attitude to the Nurse change when she learned of the Nurse’s different opinion about Romeo and her being married. When Juliet found out her being forced to marry Paris, Juliet believed Nurse would be on her side about not marrying Paris but she was wrong. Because the Nurse knew that there was no other option, she advised “ I think it best you married with the County./ O, he’s a lovely gentleman!/ Romeo’s a dishclout to him. An eagle, madam, (3.5.219-221)” Nurse was trying to tell Juliet that Romeo isn’t here Paris is and he way better looking than Romeo. Juliet felt betrayed and hurt for what the nurse said and yelled “Ancient damnation! O most wicked fiend (3.5.237)!” After finding out the nurse opinion on this matter decided she will go to the Friar to find an answer to her dire situation. Romeo and Juliet has tried to find a way to be with each other but it seems fate could not have that who know’s maybe Romeo and Juliet could have live if they thought this out and told everyone about their secret relationship it would of turned out
Who is the most to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet? There are many opinions on who is to blame for the deaths of these "star crossed lovers." One of these opinions is that both Romeo and Juliet are equally to blame for their own deaths. Romeo nor Juliet knew how to resolve their own problems and went directly to Friar Lawrence. Whenever Romeo and Juliet failed to resolve their problem, their resolution was suicide. Romeo and Juliet also withheld the love affair between them, from their families.
