Personal Growth and Achievement: A Student's Journey

I'm a 33 years old full time student of five children, work two jobs just to support me and my family, I can honestly say that before I started this class I really did not know anything about writing an essay nor a drp test my reading and writing have improved numerous. I am more proud of myself this semester because almost two years ago I started school and never made it this far before I quite. So I am very proud of the accomplishment I made this semester. Over the semester, I have learned numerous things about myself as a reader and a writer. When I first began class, I did not know anything about writing an essay. I could not spell well nor tell you what a thesis was. As the semester went on, my communication skill has improved, my vocabulary has expanded, and my writing has improved greatly. In addition to my reading and writing, I have learned that I can do anything I put my mind to as long as I work hard. I did not know anything about writing an essay or even how to start an essay, but now I know how to prewrite and organize ideas using tools to help me with editing, writing conclusions, taking notes and summarizing information, these are some of the things I did not know before starting school. With reading, I am very good with learning word parts, making study cards and using web sites to practice and learn. Also taking notes and summarizing information is very easy for me, but I still have trouble finding main ideas and details in passages. I know that writing essays is a big issue for me because I have trouble developing a thesis statement, writing topic sentences for each paragraph, and supporting and developing them with explanations and examples.
