There are also exotic animal vets, the animals you take care of depend on what vet you are. If you are a small animal vet you could take care of animals from hamsters to dogs. If you are a large animal vet then you would probably take care of cattle, and farm animals. Exotic animal vets are hard to find, but they are fun to go into. Everyone varies, my personal animal right now is the turtle, but it could change. A lot of vets know a lot about the basic animals, but they do not know about them into detail. I love learning new things about different animals, because it makes me look at them differently and then in the future it could come in handy. Learning about animals also helps if you have a lot of animals and they have small problems, than maybe you could fix yourself.
