Large Animal Veterinarian In order to be a large animal veterinarian you must have to complete at least four years of college. You do not need a masters degree, only a bachelor’s degree.Your undergraduate education should mostly focus on the following: biology, zoology, physiology, anatomy,and microbiology. Colleges and universities, such as Colorado State University and the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Science are well known for their veterinary medicine programs. These school are just a few among many schools that have good programs in veterinary medicine. For someone to be a large animal veterinarian and do the job well, one must have a passion for animals. As a large animal veterinarian working at a clinic you can get 2-4 weeks of paid vacation and paid sick days. Well trained large animal veterinarians are high in demand and work can be found relatively anywhere. This means that jobs are easy to come by and available everywhere.
The drawbacks of being a large animal veterinarian are the stress, and dangers. You might find that working as a large animal veterinarian is stressful. This might be because you are holding a life in your hands. You cannot mess up an operation, or give out the wrong medication. That could mean the animals life or its death. In this career there are dangers. These include working with dangerous chemicals, getting injured by an animal, and working with dangerous tools.
These are the things it takes to be a large animal veterinarian. There are many advantages and disadvantages. Only a few are listed above. This job requires hard work and determination, but it pays off in the end. Being a large animal veterinarian is a good career for those who want to work for
