Religion is the belief of a person in a supernatural being, on whom he looks upon for strength, protection, salvation and eternal life. Christianity is a religion with many denominations. Every denomination has a separate set of beliefs but the foundation of any Christian denomination is the Bible. The Bible is the Word of God. The Bible is Lord Jesus Christ expressed in written form. Any denomination which relies on extra-Biblical literature to an extent which eclipses the precepts of the Bible is not a Christian denomination. The United Methodist Church can be commended as a good example of a church following the Bible and embodying Christ in spiritual form.

The Bible enshrines the core beliefs of what the Church follows. The Nicene Creed is used during the Sunday worship. This further affirms the faith of the Church in the Holy Bible. The Holy Bible is the manual for every Christian. It contains everything that a Christian needs to know. If something is there in the world about which nothing is mentioned in the Bible or it is contradictory to what is what is mentioned in the Bible, it should not be there at all. Any concept that tries to supplant God is against the Bible.

This system aims at carrying out various missions of the church in association with other organizations, societies, etc. The Church is the body of Christ. It can be said true of the United Methodist Church. The objectives of the Church are in tandem with the kind of living as mentioned in the Bible.

The characteristic feature of the United Methodist Church congregation is to serve. This makes them stand out in the world, to be of service, just like their Master expects them to be. The Church that regards the Bible as their Creed, with principles that stem up from the Bible, that form form their code is bound to worship Lord Jesus Christ in accordance with what is written and expected from them in the Bible. All these eventually result in the creation of a community who carry out their purpose in the world in accordance with the Bible.
