Food, Family, and Fun!! Thanksgiving is a national holiday in the United States, always celebrated on a Thursday in November. There are many different ways people celebrate Thanksgiving. You give thanks and celebrate what you are most thankful for. Thanksgiving is a national holiday that has many different traditions, activities, and foods in different families.
Food is an important part of Thanksgiving. One similarity I have with people is that we eat green beans and mashed potatoes. Next, I share having corn and stuffing with a little bit of peers.Lastly, I share having cranberry sauce and mac and cheese with a couple of my classmates. There are many foods I share with my peers.
Many Families have different food, as well as similar foods. A different food that I shared with nobody was a turducken. It’s turkey, duck, and chicken all in one. Not a lot of people know that it exists! Another

For my Thanksgiving, I stay home. Lots of my classmates stayed home like I do. Another thing that I do for Thanksgiving is having lots of family come over and eat. Many of my peers did the same thing as me. They stayed home and hosted family, which is good for me!
There were a couple of my peers that said they went to someone's house or something of the sort. Someone didn’t have any family over and they just stayed home with their immediate family. A couple of my peers said that they went out of state for Thanksgiving. A lot of my peers said that they went to a family member's or friend’s house. No matter where you go, it is still Thanksgiving.
At my Thanksgiving, we start by watch the Thanksgiving parade. Which, a lot of peers said they watch the parade as well. Another activity I do is talk to my family about random topics. A lot of my peers said that they do the same thing. We also normally play a board game or two, which some of my peers said they
Textbooks in today’s schools still tell the same story that has been handed down from generation to generation. Every year children dress up and put on plays about the famous story of the first Thanksgiving. No one knows the truth though or at least people pretend to not know the embarrassing truth of our “founding fathers.” Textbooks today give the candy coated version of good saintly Englishmen come to a better world and find good neighbors willing to help in their time of need.
Thanksgiving is a holiday that began hundreds of years ago. It was a celebration of many different things. One of the most important reasons for the celebration was thankfulness that many of the Pilgrims survived the first year of their new lives in America. Today, however, Thanksgiving seems to have a very different meaning to people. Their main focus is not being thankful for the things they have, but wanting more.
During fall, the leaves fall, the temperature drops, and people sit around a table and say what they are thankful for. While we are consuming pounds of turkey and stuffing, the Pilgrims are to thank for the annual feast. Because the meaning of this holiday is to not stuff your face with endless amount of carbs, we should be reminded of how grateful we are for what we own. Thanksgiving was a very memorable time in U.S. history.
We dont really have any unique family traditions. The only thing that we seem to do over and over is meet up at an certain family members house and feast. Usually during Thanksgiving it’s the cooler weather. We usually have windbreakers or something of that nature on.
Thanksgiving for my family probably looks a lot like the thanksgiving for most families in the United States. My family always does their best to remember to give thanks for everything that we had that past year and everything that we have in general. From each other, to the house we are in to the food and the cars we drive. It is very valued in my family to give thanks before we indulge in the delicious meal that was prepared by so many different
My parents traveled for a living, and even though they were gone a lot I still remember them being home ever holiday. We carved pumpkins, decorated, and dressed up each year. I remember running
There are mashed potatoes, sliced carrots, slices of freshly cooked turkey, bread and cranberry sauce spread on the table ready to be eaten. My father sits at the head of the table along with my mom at the other end. I sit on the right side where there is only one chair with my two siblings sitting right across from me just like last year, and the year before and so on. It is at this point always that my family is the closest and most connected. Prior arguments are dissolved and everyone gets along. There are conversations about the football game on television, quietly playing in the background, and stories from college and whether or not to give in to our dog looking for scraps by the side of the
How I Celebrate Thanksgiving Thanksgiving is the time of year where families gather to give thanks. It is the season where the color of the leaves are orange and brown, and pumpkins are all around, which is why I love Thanksgiving so much. Thanksgiving is celebrated differently throughout the world. The way my family celebrates Thanksgiving goes in the same process, making it our own tradition.
Being part of an eight-child family, I enjoy Thanksgiving with 30+ members and, although several have come and gone, it seems a new face takes their place with a marriage or the birth of a child, ever perpetuating the life circle that is my family. Last Thanksgiving, we lost one member to death but gained another through birth and one more through marriage, decreasing the room in the kitchen by one and adding one more high chair to the table downstairs.
I decided I would go to my fraternity house for lunch to see the reactions of people who actually knew me. We had meatball subs for lunch so I made two decent sized ones and sat at a table with 6 of my closer friends. It only took about a minute to see a reaction from some of the kids at my table. One of my friends told me to shut my mouth and the rest of the table started laughing. I stuck to my plan until another one of my friends told me to, “eat normally or go eat somewhere else”. Everyone’s face went from looking weirdly at me to giving me a straight stare. I got the observation I needed so I explained to them what was going on and finished my meal in peace. The most interesting thing this time was the sudden change of expression when one person decided to tell me it wasn’t okay to break the social norm and eat with my mouth open. All it took was one person to step up in order for the rest of the table to get on board. Most people won’t directly call you out for going against a social norm but they won’t hesitate to back the first person who
Some of the activities that people may do outside is hunting, sledding, make snowmen, ride atvs and much more. The other half of the United States spends their Thanksgivings outside rather than being inside. Most of this activity takes place in the northern part of the United States because that is where it is usually cold. Either way there are plenty of ways you can celebrate your Thanksgiving. There are many other things to do on Thanksgiving that don’t involve going outside.
My Grandma is in the kitchen cooking desserts to lay out at Thanksgiving. My Grandpa comes over to help us in the door, and we unpack. A couple days later it is Thanksgiving, I wake up and force myself downstairs to spot breakfast ready. When we finish eating breakfast, my parents head upstairs and get ready.
Thanksgiving is a holiday people celebrate to give thanks. People can celebrate this holiday in many different ways. Lots of different people around the world can have different traditions every year. People having different traditions for the holiday’s can make Thanksgiving a unique holiday. Different people can have different foods at Thanksgiving depending on what their taste in food or their religion.
Many people in the world do great things for the less fortunate. Things like donating money to different organizations or volunteering at local shelters. As far as myself, I do the same. Every year between Thanksgiving and Christmas, I decorate holiday baskets filled with goodies. Putting items like blankets, can goods, can openers, fruit cups, hygiene supplies, and flashlights in wrapped woven baskets.
I am closer to my best friend, Carlie, and a few of my other friends, than I am to my family. I stayed with Carlie for a whole week over break. I love spending time with my friends because I am so comfortable around them, unlike with my family. I think my favorite part of the break was spending so much time with my
