In modern times, so much technology surrounds us that we may not even realize it until we stop and take a hard look. If we really tried, we could see all of the technology we use every day even in the most insignificant daily tasks. Technology has made such a huge impact on our lives that we hardly realize we are using it anymore. The massive effect that technological advancement has made on humans is irreversible. Over time we have become so spoiled by the idea of instant gratification that anything less is almost daunting and the thought of not progressing further and moving past the modern technology is unacceptable to us; even worse is the thought of going backwards. He collected the food that was originally planned to be eaten by six people for the remainder of the mission and calculated his rations. While there was technology in the Hab keeping him alive by creating a suitable living environment that protected him from the Martian atmosphere that is toxic to humans due to the high concentration of carbon dioxide and the planet’s freezing temperatures, he was left with little to eat and no form of communicating with anyone.
