Many social problems exist in today’s society, among them is homelessness. In our nation, we encounter homeless people in our day-to-day lives, yet we rarely question the reasons for their circumstance. Through the symbolic interactionist perspective, I will explore the causes of homelessness in order to help find possible solutions. Symbolic interactionism perspective is defined as “the study of how people negotiate the meanings of social life during their interactions with others” (Rohall, Milkie, and Lucas, 2014, p.27).
