ss Five Articles in Relation to Homelessness Homelessness is a social problem that has been replicated in various parts of the world. Homelessness is characterized by a myriad of causes ranging from poor living arrangements and absence of permanent residence. The problem poses many challenges that have left the society to ask why it continues to affect many people and how it can be dealt with. The public holds different views on the causes and extent of homelessness. In this regard, sociologists, economists, and the whole society also view the issue from different perspectives. In terms of gender, reason for homelessness greatly differs between male and female. This fact has already been acknowledged by Heinze et al, (2012) when they pointed out that female adolescents attribute their destituteness to issues such as pregnancy and threats, which are not associated to male destitute. Tessler, Rosenreck, Gamache (2001) conducted a study to illustrate that pathways to homelessness are structured by the society. The study examined eleven different reasons as to why males and females end up being homeless. The study used interviews to gather information from study subjects and the one-way analysis was used to make a comparison between men and women on what they believed was reasoned that drove them into destituteness. The overall, common reason among the two groups was mental illness, interpersonal conflicts, and alcohol/drugs. On the side of males, discharge from institutes and loss of jobs stood out as the main reasons, while women cited eviction, lack of help, and interpersonal conflicts as the major reasons. The overall conclusion from this study is that males and females differ in terms of reasons that drive them into homelessness. In the study, Terresini explores the homeless demographic and come to the conclusion that they belong to various spheres of life; they are not homogenous. The author also studies the relation between the socio_demographic traits that are linked to the risk factors and causes of homelessness. The study was also aimed at finding out whether the various groups of homeless people deserve specific, specialized services for their needs. The longitudinal survey method was used to collect data from the homeless study subjects. In the study, various socio_demographic elements such as age, education, work history, employment status, family background, health problems, and social networks were studied. The factor analysis techniques were used to study and analyze the collected information. Factor analysis is particularly superior compared to cluster and one-way analysis employed in the other researches because it can analyze highly correlated survey items. It emerged that just in the studies by Heinze et, al (2012) and Terresini (2007), the results indicated that poverty, loss of housing, personal conflict, were the primary pathways to homelessness. However, the only difference with the other studies is that Terresini sampled study subjects from various backgrounds and ages.
