The StrengthsFinder assessment revealed that my top five strengths are: context, responsibility, relator, adaptability and learner. I gained insight and action planning skills for each theme when I read StrengthsQuest (Gallup, 2010). The information provided in StrengthsQuest increased my self awareness. I was amazed to find that I actually agree with most of the results in the assessment.. I’ve used these themes throughout my life in social, academic, and work-related settings. I didn’t view the themes as strength or talent. They were merely things that I felt needed to be done for me to be a productive member of society. I guess I was taking my strengths for granted (Sorensen,2014). I will use my top five strengths to become a better student. “Success requires more than talent.”(Clifton, Anderson, Schreiner, 2006) I will focus on developing my strengths/talents daily and using them more in depth. StrengthsQuest suggests engaging in happy healthy relationships, valuing my strengths and talents, and remembering my purpose will lead to fulfilling my goals ( Clifton, Anderson, Schreiner, 2006) In conclusion, it’s refreshing to know that the authors did so much research to improve the way we think of ourselves in school, work, and other social settings. We face negativity everyday whether it’s in our personal lives or just turning on the television.
