The study of sightings of unexplainable creatures seen by the residents of the San Luis Valley is a research of the stories of creatures people have seen which have no logical explanation now. Are these creatures, myths or something unexplainable? Are there environmental conditions to the sightings? The interviews conducted gave an insight into a complex dilemma of the sightings. Not only are the people varied, the sighted creatures are varied as well. People have often seen the same type of unexplainable creatures; however, this study has focused on the different types of creatures seen. The exploration of this sub-culture has yielded more questions than answers.

Numerous sightings of odd lights, cattle mutilations, fantastic aerial machines, and even stranger creatures have been seen in the valley beginning when people arrived in the area. Legends of creatures, not normally seen are numerous. From the Pueblo tribe, we get the creator legend of Bigfoot, Talulukang is the serpent who holds the world together and the forty-foot raptor, which lives on the east side of the valley is the thunderbird. Snippy the horse was the first official mutilation near the Great Sand Dunes. The authors hypothesize string and M-brane theory can be a possible explanation of one or several parallel universes allowing beings from another universe access to our own. Three theories have been evaluated; wormholes to provide shortcuts, Alcubierre Warp Drive, and the possibility of adjacent universes where the speed of light may be different (Deardorff, et al. n.d.). The article proposes the ethical behavior of extraterrestrials who are in careful contact with a less advanced civilization on Earth, leaving behind no evidence and carefully contacting humans. The authors speculate on the intent of the aliens by stating the aliens may be wanting to study a civilization uncontaminated by visitations from other alien species. The ability of creatures to travel to our world would be an advantage to humans because of the obvious fact they are more advanced than humans.
