An abortion is the termination of a pregnancy by the removal or expulsion of an embryo or fetus from the uterus, resulting in or caused by its death. An abortion can occur spontaneously due to complications during pregnancy or can be induced. Abortion as a term most commonly refers to the induced abortion of a human pregnancy, while spontaneous abortions are usually termed miscarriages. The US Supreme Court has declared abortion to be a "fundamental right" guaranteed by the US Constitution. No woman should be required to give up her life or health or family security to save the life of a fetus that is threatening her well-being. Access to safe and legal abortion is an important aspect of women’s health care. Abortion is one of the safest medical procedures performed in the United States. The risk associated with childbirth is approximately fourteen times higher than abortion. Over 90% of abortions in the United States are performed in outpatient settings and almost all complications that arise after an abortion can be, and are, treated on an outpatient basis. The woman is at very little risk during surgery with a less than .05% fatality rate opposed to actually birthing which causes an estimated 24,497 deaths per year for grown women. An estimated 322,441 teens die from childbirth each year. These teens were given a choice and they chose to attempt child labor but failed and imagine how many more would die if we were to eliminate the choice of abortion. Finally we shouldn’t we change a functional law as it was decided by the Roe V. Wade case. We decided when the embryo would be able to function and therefore live so it was made illegal to abort after the first trimester. This should be more than enough for our contenders but they selfishly want a stricter law which is completely unnecessary and excessive. If someone wants to abort then they would need more time to make this life changing decision so we should be asking for less restrictive laws instead of
