Ocean Pollution Pollution has a big effect on are oceans. There's so many causes and it all leads up to one effect which is pollution. The ocean covers up ninety-seven percent of are world's water supply. Seventy percent of the oxygen we breathe is produced by some marine plants. So clearly ocean and its water is are main thing that keeps us alive. Pollution is unhealthy and horrible because there's a lot of plastic in the oceans, land based pollutants, and the careless human interventions. First off there's way too much plastic in the ocean that causes pollution. All of this stuff is caused by natural and manmade pollution. We have produced more plastic then we have in the last one-hundred years. The plastic kills fish, birds, marine animals, and sea turtles. Now that is just horrible that so many animals are dying because of pollution tried to stop pollution instead of causing it? …show more content…

The main effect of this plastic is pollution. In passage 3 it states that ” We have so much to thank the oceans for; however, they are threatened daily by natural and manmade pollution. Ocean pollution comes in many forms, but the largest factor affecting the oceans is plastic”. On the other hand the second big cause is land based pollutants which is oil, septic sludge, dirt, and trash. Septic sludge is like household wastewater. The oil can affect people's health and the animals. It can poison and contaminate are water and the marine animals. In passage 2 it states that” Although oil spills pollute the ocean, they only account for approximately 12% of the oil polluting the ocean. The rest reaches the oceans from land, through drainage”. There's also a huge garbage site off the coast of California twice as large as the state of Texas which its garbage washes into the sea polluting
