Conflict is the difference of opinions ideas or believes. Conflict is shown throughout the world in many different forms. ‘Remember the Titans’ and ‘where is the love’ show how socially constructed ideas of race and ignorance can be the cause of discrimination and conflict. However both texts illustrate that through love and friendship these forms of conflict can be overcome. The idea of thoughts and opinions being constructed by society is demonstrated in both texts. In ‘Remember the Titans’ there is conflict throughout the community due to the integration of the Black students via bussing. The outrage that the community displays has no true premise. Supporting the idea that the belief system of the white community has been created throughout the history of the society.This is expressed with multiple mid shots and close ups of angry white parents protesting on the first day of the newly …show more content…

The whole concept of ‘Remember the Titans’ is that the friendships that the team create when they bond to become a great football team is the driving force for the whole town to be accepting of one another. These close friendships are presented in a montage of the football players having fun, bonding and laughing together. This montage is backed with non-diegetic cheery music that further enforces the happy mood and nature of the montage. This truly shows the team bonding and how they have overcome the initial racial conflict. ‘Where is the love’ as the name suggests sings about how love is the cure to the hate and discrimination in the world.Some of the key lyrics to support the chorus point out worldly issues that could be overcome through love. The overall sound of the music is cheerless and dull the lyrics however have a strong meaning.Through both texts we learn that with camaraderie and love are the two forces that can defeat
