Looking back on the semester it is easy for me to see how much my overall writing has improved because of this class, WRA 110, Writing: Science & Technology. Because of the different projects, papers, readings, and assignments, I have gained a stronger foundation in the understanding of technological and rhetorical literacies. I now have a better understanding of the requirements and expectations of college writing. This course has helped me improve my overall writing by developing in five major areas: organization, audience, research, citation, and revision.
My overall organization of my writing has improved over the semester. This is evident when looking at my directional draft of Project 1, compared to my later projects. I was able to improve my organization first and foremost creating an outline and getting all my ideas down and them piecing them together. ...h my life is dependent on technology and how it plays a key part in my everyday life. This was primarily shown in Project 1 and more in depth in Project 4. In each of these assignments, I talked about how technology has impacted my life. I learned not to be afraid to put yourself into the piece- when you possess the ethos, take advantage of it and allow it to better your writing. Not only that, but I learned the importance of not making assumptions or generalizations. They not only can be terrible stereotypes, but will hurt your credibility. This first year writing class has improved my writing by developing it in the areas of organization, audience, research, citation, and revision. While this course is not highly connected to my major on the surface, the ideas that I am able to take from it will greatly benefit me in my future academic and professional life.
