In my opinion Ralph is the most effective leader in LOTF because he is fearless, organized, and powerful. One reason Ralph is the most effective leader is because of how fearless he is. Ralph shows us in many situations that he is scared of nothing. “The thing is - fear can’t hurt you any more than a dream. There aren’t any beasts to be afraid of on this island.” (p.82-83 Golding) Ralph is saying in this quote that fear is something you created and that it’s not real. “Well then - I’ve been all over this island. By myself. If there was a beast I’d seen it. He was the one that implemented the use of the conch which played a major role in this book. Ralph said “I’ll give the conch to the next person to speak. He can hold it when he’s speaking.”(p.33 Golding) In this quote Ralph implemented a system so everyone has a chance to speak about their questions, concerns, or anything that they need to tell the group.
