Decision making can be involved in every situation we experience, even when deciding what to eat for lunch. People and companies are surrounded by countless decisions on a daily basis. Decisions can be contemplated in different ways from different perspectives. By definition, decision-making is the selection of a procedure to weight alternatives and find a solution to a problem. Needless to say, certain situations may require various decision making styles in order to provide effectiveness. It involves people who are action oriented and decision makers who focus on facts. People that acquire a directive style present low tolerance for ambiguity and are oriented towards task and technical concerns when making decisions. This type of leader can be very rational, but will think on the short term. Some of the pros from the directive style demonstrate efficient, logical, practical, and systematic approach when solving problems. People with a directive style are action oriented and decisive and like to focus and derive their decisions based on facts. On the contrary side, people with this style are sometimes perceived to be autocratic when pursuing speed and results. They also tend to exercise power and control, while focusing on the short run.
