My school, Community School of Davidson has some things that would surpass my standards if I were class president. I would choose to change our homecoming, a time to celebrate our school. I believe that we should have a more traditional homecoming. This would consist of having the Homecoming football game on a Friday night. Then on that saturday we would have someone to go to the formal with, our date. This is what most schools do and I just think that it would be a lot of fun to get dressed up and go with your date to homecoming. Another thing that I would choose to change if I was running for class president is that I would choose to remove jumpstart, a time to be active during the day. I do like having the extra ten minutes to goof around
In The Balancing the Presidential Seesaw, (2000) Vaughan discusses in chapter one, ten ethical concepts that community college presidents should practice. In addition, Vaughan suggests that engaging in several of these ethical practices – the “shall-nots”, may result in a president being forced out of his position by having to resign or faced being dismissed (Vaughan, 2000). Further, the “shall nots” are extremely significant to the president’s role – they could be considered the “presidential commandments” which should never be broken (Vaughan, 2000, p. 1). This list is suggested for everyday living, and although it was written for future and current presidents, every individual should attempt to adhere to these ethical concepts (Vaughan,
The American Education system needs to check their purpose and refocus students back on the reason for furthering their education. Although, many colleges are known for many amenities and student activities, college students need to focus on the issues at hand and conquer them with knowledge and compassion for humankind. Americans need to realize that student debt is a national crisis, and the best way to make a change is be involved and responsible for every cost during your education career. As a responsible student, know where your tuition money goes and question changes that are going on at school, students pay for the experience they should know what is
“Incumbency is the time during which a person holds a particular office or position.” (Incumbency) An incumbent candidate is a candidate who is returning to a position or office. The president can serve only two four year terms. Senators and legislators can serve an unlimited amount of six year terms. Since George Washington was president, presidents usually served two terms. However, Franklin D. Roosevelt served four terms. This resulted in the 22nd amendment limiting the amount of terms to two. The 22nd amendment was passed by congress on March, 21st 1947 and ratified by the states in February 27th, 1951.
Throughout everyday tasks in the classroom, or outside of school, I step up and lead those who need to be led. I constantly find new opportunities to lead others and help the situation any way I can. Every summer the band has a marching band camp for a week straight that we must all attend. Being an experienced band member, I step up and assist all underclassmen and show then where to go and what they need to be doing. Instead of getting frustrated when giving the freshman directions, I am calm and collect and walk them step by step until they understand, something most leaders would not have time or patience for. With many plans to help others and lead within my community, I believe that I have what it takes to be a strong, and powerful leader for the National Honor Society.
As the United States of America gets older, so does the presidential election voting system. The argument to change this method of voting has been becoming more and more popular as the years go on. It has been said that the Framers of the Constitution came up with this method because of the bad transportation, communication, and they feared the public’s intelligence was not suitable for choosing the President of the United States. Others say that the Framers made this method because they feared that the public did not receive sufficient information about candidates outside of their state to make such a decision based on direct popular vote. My research on this controversial issue of politics will look into the factors into why the Electoral College exists and if it is possibly outdated for today’s society. It will look into the pros and cons of this voting system, and it will explore the alternative methods of voting such as the Direct Popular vote. Many scholarly authors have gathered research to prove that this voting system is outdated and it does not accurately represent the national popular will. Many U.S. citizens value their vote because they only get one to cast towards the candidate of their choice in the presidential election. Based on the Electoral College system their vote may possibly not be represented. Because of today’s society in the U.S. the Electoral College should be abolished because it is not necessary to use a middle-man to choose our president for us. It is a vote by the people, all of us having one voice, one vote.
I believe someone would want to take on a leadership role within the organization because they will feel that they are capable of taking on more responsibility. The salary can also have a role in taking a leadership role. If someone was to offer me a higher salary to take on a leadership role, I probably would. Some of the pros can include making changes that will benefit the organization. Another would be leading the organization to success by making goal and having great sales. Some cons can include people blaming you if something doesn’t work out. You are the leader of the company so if something goes wrong, the leader will be the person responsible.
I feel like Public School #23 has a character of its own. In fact it's like a tree, it has roots of strong administrators who make sure we stay grounded. It has a strong trunk of teachers who wish to support us in whatever we decide to do. We have wonderful subjects the branches that make us interested and fill our brains with knowledge and we the students are the leaves. As freshman we start to bud, as sophomores we begin to get full shape and color, as juniors we begin are full shape and size and by senior year we are tired and wish to leave the tree and adventure the world. The shadow that our tree forms is a very respectable one. I am ______ and I want to be your Class President.
for student leadership day i would like to become miss.Stabile for a day. I wish to become miss.Stabile because i love her classes and miss.Stabile's teaching style.
As a change maker and full-time on-campus student, the issue I would address is food insecurity on campus. By that, I mean the affordability and accessibility to healthier venues at the food court. Many students are struggling with a lack of getting nutritional food at school. It is happening because healthy and nutrition food is too expensive to get. It is easier for a student to buy a cheap burger and soda on campus rather than get a healthy salad and juice. Between paying rent, paying utilities and then trying to buy food, that is where the most insecurity faced because food choice is the most flexible. Every year tuition is rising, but no challenge on the food-related issue on campus. Most of the students are recognizing this problem,
To start my learning experience off right, I would love for teachers to do more hands-on learning in classrooms where it is needed because most learn from doing and not just writing down notes that most people don
The President of the United States has many roles. Head of state is one; it is head of the government. Some officials in the political system do not agree that the president should have so many roles. Second is Chief Executive. With this role, he is obligated to enforce acts of congress, federal courts and treaties. In addition, the president is Commander in Chief of the armed forces. In this role, he has control over our military as needed. As Chief Diplomat, the president is in charge of American Foreign Policy. He can make agreements with other countries. The last major role of the president is Chief Legislator of the United States. This means that he has influence in making laws. All of the
It is time for education to turn from conventional-authoritarian to modern-democratic approach inside classrooms. As authors John Holt and Kristan A. Morrison argue, traditional classrooms are restrictive, authoritarian, coercive, and manipulative and leave no opportunity for students to express and involve in their own education and learning experience. On the other hand, democratic classrooms arguments stand for students having the freedom of choice in what, when, how and where to study. Classrooms need to become more democratic, open and inclusive to participation because students’ engagement in class leads them to learn in a more meaningful, active and beneficial way.
Classroom management is the foundation of education at all levels. Optimal teaching and learning require an environment conducive to learning through structure, support, organization and guidelines. Classroom layout, routines and procedures as well as a carefully thought out discipline system are the core elements of my classroom management strategies. Lesson planning is also vitally important to ensuring engaged, motivated and on-task students, but even the most imaginative lesson plans can be ineffective in an unmanaged classroom. In my opinion, younger learners need more support and structure than the older students do, especially in an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classroom where communication between the teacher and the students can be very
On November 2nd, we talked about our solutions as a group. Going off of our criteria, we talked about changing the curriculum to be more like a college atmosphere. I told them that if students had a classroom with classes set up how they are in college, they would feel more comfortable going into college classes. Lillian wants dual and AP credit courses to be encouraged and feel it would help with having less classes to take while in college. Accalia said that when she transferred here, her GenEd classes would not transfer and now has to retake
Nowadays, more and more students prefer to choose college to continue their study. Most of the college will help students to decide and arrange their studies for students. Students just need to follow the steps and they can graduate within years and obtain their certificate. From this way, they cannot improve much in their college life. Everything will be spoon-fed and they will still live like their primary schools. College should change their education ways for students to improve and learn more things in their college life. Besides that, college students have the right and responsible to manage their own things. So, college should give students the right to choose their preferred class schedule. College students should have the right to choose their own class schedule because it is very important for them to become more independent, responsible and productive person in the future.
