The entire issue about immigration is a complete mess. I do understand that people our coming into the country “illegally”, but the real issue here is the security and not the “threat” these immigrants bring to us. Globalization is what’s challenging America in both migration and terrorism because it’s honestly making it much easier to happen. In my understanding, Immigration Reform is just a term used to state that there are new and/or better changes made to the immigration issue by itself. As I read the articles I realized that there is more to the issue than I thought. I found that many articles are supporting immigration reform and think that if changes are to be made, it should include letting these people come into our country and help us better our country in whole. Although I believe immigration can be beneficial to our country, others disagree. In the article, Don’t Dismiss Terror Threat from Unguarded Southwest Border, stated, “It is understood by U.S. law enforcement and intelligence circles that important players, in both the Mexican drug cartels and in certain transnational gangs based in El Salvador, have a long association with and personal connects to members of terror groups” (Handelsman). I agree with the fact that we have to be extremely careful with who enters our country because of the terrorism and etc, but we have to remember that most immigrants are the ones who work hard for us and in some cases, invented online databases we use such as …show more content…

The article, “As State Says It Can’t Provide Housing For Immigrant Children, Others Offer To Step Up”, Jenny Wilson stated “We could make Connecticut proud and welcome these kids and treat them well, adding some of the kids escaping violence could eventually have refugee status under U.S. law” (p.9). If our country can accept these illegal immigrant children then I truly believe they should give adults the same opportunity because those children won’t stay long forever so what’s the difference? The article before this one which was, “These Are Children Struggling To Our Border”, gave a lot of information about children who were in need of help and trying to cross the border were still considered “criminals” because they were illegal. The last paragraph in that particular article said, “Yes, solutions are complex and expensive, but until we re-examine this humanitarian crisis as one that involves children who have the same basic needs as our own, until we can ask ourselves, “what if they were our own?” our immigration policies will continue to be misguided” (Gonzalez). This quote changed the entire view of the article. We honestly need to start treating people the way we want to be treated including immigrants because it’s not fair to them and the U.S. can benefit a lot from their hard working
