Personal Reflection On Cyc's Role As A Counselor

CYC has greatly impacted me as both a camper and counselor. The camp has been a great place for me to grow in my faith, and make life-long friendships. Many things help camp run smoothly, including summer staff. The summer staff is essential to running camp, and I would like the opportunity to be a staff member. I want to help camp run, and help counselors and campers experience their faith more fully. I believe I have a strong relationship with Jesus. Daily prayer is an essential aspect to any strong relationship with Christ. I try to pray at least 2 or 3 times a day. I enjoy praying the rosary and try to at least twice a week. My parents separated and many issues stemmed from this. With family issues occurring I turned to my relationship with god and the support of the Catholic Church. This has strengthened my relationship God enormously. It is important to have not only a relationship with God but also the church to fall back on during tough times. Catholicism plays a major role in my life. I have always been very involved with the church. When I was younger I was an altar server, and was enrolled in religious education classes. When I entered high school, I joined the teen youth group. This was an amazing experience. We went on mission trips and worked with the handicapped. The teen youth group helped me grow in my faith during my teen years. In college, I continued to go to mass at the local Newman Center on campus. Catholic Youth Camp has by far had the most impact in my religious life. It is an experience that has shaped my faith life in a positive way, and will always be an important aspect of my faith life. I love volunteering and working for the Catholic Church and value the experiences it has brought me.
