Even when I was younger, I loved to pretend that the steering wheel was on the right side of the car and I would be the one pressing my foot on that pedal. So now that the time actually came for me to drive on my own, on that open, terrifying road, I felt like my stomach was on fire. I was so ecstatic that if we needed bread for dinner or that I needed to take my sister into town for practice, I could be the one sitting in the driver’s side of the car. I loved the idea that I could be responsible for running the errands, helping out the family, and being independent. The day finally came on August 14, 2016, and my stomach was like a fireplace blazing in the winter time, I was sure that I was going to vomit. My drivers test was at eight o’clock in the morning, and I was the first one to go. We pulled down Dean’s street in Deposit NY, and sat, waiting, watching the clock go by slowly like molasses in January. My head kept saying “I’m going to fail, that’s it, i’ll never be able to drive on my own”. …show more content…

I press the blinker down to turn left onto Clark street where I had to perform the K turn. I pulled up to the side of the sidewalk and press the blinker down to show that I was going to turn left. I managed to successfully turn, and I never felt a bump, so I put the car into reverse,quickly but smoothly, and pulled the car forward. I did it, I never thought I could do it before, my stomach was now just minor butterflies. Then, when I thought it was all over and going so great, I went to turn the car when the light turned green and all I felt was this jolt, I knew exactly what I did. When we pulled up next to my frantic mother, I look over to the dry, serious man, and asked if I passed. He looks over and says “I’ll only knock off 5 points for hit the curb”. The amount of salty water that came out of me was tremendous. I could finally run all the errands and take my sister to her
